True enough.
The Oilers have a bit of a depth issue both up front and on D. No team survives losing guys of Draisaitl and Sekera's calibre at the same time, let alone when you've lost Caggiula too.
Right now I'd say you have 3 AHL Calibre forwards and 2 AHL Calibre D on the roster. - BINGO!
Jesse and that missed top pick is (frank)ing things up royally... Esp with our cap next season... We need good ones at bargains... and as of now its blowing up a bit... |

That's fine, but you never agreed with much of what this team has done. Yet the team sure did a lot better than most of you expected last year. - Lahey
Actually I called it pretty much to a tee. Not the conf final but almost exactly everything else I said happened including the way most of you on here would react. |

Why
I think people need to have a little more faith in PC. The guy turned the team around quickly and has proven to add valuable pieces.
If MacT was here, we'd be wonder what to do with Nolan Patrick - Lahey
Although the team I’m seeing is super concerning, it’s early, so I’ll be clear that it’s not panic time.
But just for argument sake- I dunno if I agree.
Connor changes everything. As does the emergence of Leon and Klefbom.
Mact never had any of those at his disposal.
Does he acquire talbot and maroon type guys who meshed so well, Which are also important ? That I can’t say |

I don't think he has, though.
Yeah, he added a couple of decent pieces, but he did it at the expense of even better ones to a large extent.
His problems are the same as his problems always were... If he were just a little more patient, this team could be further ahead and a LOT deeper than they are.

Mact did the Talbot deal.
Maroon is the best deal PC has done quite clearly. Would Mact have done it who can say? |

I never hated mact like most did/do. I’ve always admitted this.
But it’s not unfair to say Mact’s squads failed miserably. Even if I think it’s more nuanced than that, the fact remains.
Where the comparison between our current gms success and macts get skewed, is Connor McDavid. (And leon and Oscar ). It’s simply unfair I think.
Let’s not forget that pc without a full dominant season of Connor also had a bottom 3 finish |

PC was in control. He wanted to get rid of draft picks as he didn't trust the scouting staff. MacT did very little |

I’ll admit I didn’t see it this way.
Flaws no doubt, but I felt his size, skating and shot were just too good to not mask whatever issues he had and be a solid contributor by this season. |

Tough to say. The guys real issue is figuring out NA style hockey. Some solid time in Bakersfield could change him and make him a valuable addition as early as this year. I do wish he understood english as I think the process would be a lot faster |

Glen Sather said it was a deal he and Mact had in place for Talbot.
So then PC traded those picks for Reinhart who he said he personally scouted at both memorial cups and said was NHL ready. |

If we didn't care about playoffs I'm sure he could've been dealt with differently last year. That wasn't the case though. At least him unlike Yak will have the chance to work on his game in the AHL |

He still can, but he's going to need a coach to trust him and let him make some mistakes.
Canes are starting Necas for his first game between Aho and Lindholm. You gotta give these guys the best chance possible to make an impact and trust their skill is going to come through, otherwise what's the point? |

Not hard to follow.
PC "i want Talbot, talk to your old boss, only spend picks'
MacT "sounds good, I'll give Kevin a call"

My thoughts exactly. If they decide to overpay Maroon to keep him around, then you can go ahead and get ready to fire Chiarelli in two years. - BINGO!
Well said.
IMO, (that was for u max!) He’s already proven he struggles to identify when someone isn’t a “driver” but a “passenger” in regards to the deal he gave russel while paying alongside sekera.
So hopefully he realizes that while maroon has been great for us, if he asks for anything over 3, he can find someone else to do that job. |

He will have to be traded... We are nearly getting to the point of the cap where you trade for cheap vets and run the dice on draft picks over achieving. |
