i just don't see it... unless this is how Price plays all year. i think they will eventually start winning 2-1 and 3-2 games instead of losing 3-1 and 5-2.

i do agree about the full rebuild but you would literally have to tear this organization down to the studs... not just players. because you can't rebuild if you can't develop players.

There was an article the other day about how Shanahan, when hired, started by firing his GM, his coach, 19 scouting staff member, the whole development squad to replace them by more competent people.

Annnnnd there you have why Toronto's rebuild was done well.

they have done it well but they also had some good fortune of winning the lottery when a player like Matthews was available. that's the wild card. because you can finish dead last and end up with Matthews or you could end up with Alex Galchenyuk.

Their "rebuild" has done well because they won the lottery with Matthews. Marner and Nylander were pretty sure bets as well.
Remember that they also made stupid signings of guys like Robidas, but the system is broken and they can hide him on an island.

Nylander was an 8th overall... not a sure thing by any means
and they took heat about the Marner pick i remember because of his size

so they drafted a 4th liner with the 8th overall pick and Habs did the same with the 3rd overall

Give them some credit, Marner and Nylander were not "sure bets". Case and point, other players were picked before them.

Sure they got the first overall at the right time which helped them tremendously.

As a case of a full rebuild that went well and fast, they're a pretty good god damn example.
