DONE with Mueller. absolutely done. He plays for the other team half the time. inept with the puck. running into guys without the puck. goodbye.

We're clearly 2 defensmen short of a solid group. At least Santini is looking good.

And at least one of those dmen needs to be able to handle top 4 minutes.

Wow what a fun game!

A LOT of sloppy turnovers - part of a young team's growing pains. Elite goaltending and offense can bail you out sometimes (like tonight) but need to tighten things up.

Games like this one and the Caps game show that we lack the players to shut down an elite line/power play. Zajac will help when he's back.

Zacha had that one shift where he hit the post and then had the wrap-around try, he was flying there. THAT'S the Zacha we need! Not the silly, almost-game-losing last minute penalty...

Tonight was Nico's best game. He was flying out there, sooo close to netting his first but I'm sure he'll take a couple of assists and a win. Wanted to see him in the shootout but oh well.

Haven't had that much fun watching a Devils game on TV in years

Unfortunately that means more Lovejoy or Prout
- smellmyfinger

gimme Prout! He looked better than both of them in the preseason. Mueller actively ruins us. Lovejoy did it passively because he was too slow. Mueller is in motion or with the puck creating disaster.

Comfortable with a Greene-Severson top pair and a Butcher-Santini bottom pair with Butcher on PP and Santini on PK. It's that middle pairing problem, any combo of Moore, Mueller, Prout and Lovejoy is a disaster.

Severson is still inconsistent, I thought he had a pretty rough game tonight. On a contending team Greene-Severson is the second pairing, but it is what it is.

I've been realllllly impressed with Butcher (I know, who hasn't). Obviously offensively but even in our own zone he's been impressively steady. If missing out on Shattenkirk played a big role in getting Butcher, I'm happy Shattenkirk didn't sign with NJ.

Mueller hasn't been great but I still prefer him in the lineup over Lovejoy. At least with Mueller there is potential and room to grow, the reality is we still aren't a win-now team to the point of playing vets over young guys all the time due to growing pains. Haven't seen enough of Prout to have a real opinion of where he's at.

We need to make a push for Carlson like we did for Shattenkirk.

Played 25 minutes, pretty impressive. Wouldn't mind seeing him and greene as a shutdown pair.

Severson needs to channel the old Severson that had us as excited for him as we are with Butcher now.

It doesn't surprise me how much the NHL and media don't care for the Devils. It was obvious that the announcers were pro-Tampa the whole game and seemed upset the Devils won.

Agreed, hope Washington is cap strapped enough to have to let him test the market.

Problem is that we're using him in a shutdown role and not allowing him to create offensively.

He always has. He's gonna make mistakes because he's young, but not because he's bad. He reminds me a of better, younger version of Karl Alzner. Santini is never going to WOW you offensively, but he'll always keep up with the pace and play solid defense in the NHL.

I don’t remember Patty being quite as money as you guys remember. Kovy was absurdly good, Parise very solid. I remember Patty being kind of hit and miss. Not bad by any means, but I remember a lot of over-dekeing too. Either way - 2/3 that were practically guaranteed was a sick time.

Brian Engblom has always been that way with the Devils. I wouldn’t say anti -Devils, but always giving way more credit to the opposing team. Nothing new.

He used to do the Bolts games locally. So that's probably why.

Then there you go, no wonder why he's homer. Their radio broadcast team is even worse if you can believe it.

Haven't heard the radio crew, but Tampa's old play-by-play guy was the biggest homer idiot you could be. Think Jack Edwards level. Bad stuff.
