I guess you think that Oshie would lose the ability to skate once receiving that outlet. We want our defenseman to keep a tight gap and challenge in the neutral zone. Well except when a goal is scored. Defense is a team game. Much easier to blame the scapegoat on the ice.

On the other goal however MacDonald shouldn't have shadowed Ovechkin. If he had left him alone and dropped back down and Ovechkin ripped a goal into the net. "Why in the hell did MacDonald let Ovechkin go!"

It's basic defensive coverage. Asking and expecting defenseman to cover 3 players doesn't work. We'll agree to disagree.

Sanheim needs to be the ultimate professional here. Let's see if he handles it well by answering media questions with the proper platitudes the organization trains them with.

Attaching the video doesn't do anything. I've seen it umpteen times. Manning did exactly what he should've done. Oshie would've not continued to cut over if Manning didn't cover him, and instead of the chip play to Backstrom, it would've been a 2 on 1 with Oshie and Backstrom or an Oshie breakaway if Manning shaded too far over to Backstrom. Weal's hesitation and getting beat up ice to the net is the breakdown on the coverage.

Wasn't a very good pinch . Manning took himself out of the play..... really was a defensive breakdown.

For those interested in one of the more under the radar prospects. Bunnaman's slow start was blamed on a bad flu-bug. He's been dynamite since recovering.
