So if Sanheim is sitting out tonight, by my calculation that is 3 out of 6 games in the press box.
Assuming this rate continues, we can expect 41 games learning the game on the ice and 41 games learning the game in the press box.
I'm sure Hakstol has thought a great deal about this, but at what point does Sanheim's development reach a critical mass where the sit/start rate rises above 50%? Will it be because of injury or is there an actual developmental hurdle to clear in order for that to happen?
He did trust VdV for 81 games last year so I'm sure there is a definite hurdle to clear before that start rate increases. |

I think Haks thought process is, if Sanheim doesn't play, he can't get hurt!
This plan is fool proof!

I disagree that we can easily live with it. If you want to give them a pass fine, go ahead. You can't have top players who play large chunks of a game giving that kind of disgraceful effort defensively. I find the difference sometimes in effort and intensity from one side of the puck or the other unacceptable. There are different kinds of mistakes in my opinion. - MJL
It's showing up in their games more frequently. They need to tighten up. Tough to criticize them with their red hot start offensively but that's an area of concern. |

The Flyers have the option of playing him in the AHL in between his NHL games.
For example, if he doesn't play for the Flyers on Thursday or Saturday, he could be loaned to the Phantoms and play two games for them on Friday and Saturday night. |

Voracek has been awful away from the puck going back to most of last season. If you bust your ass and get beat well that happens. If you're standing still and not giving any effort and staring at the play, that is unacceptable. I don't care how dominant he was offensively. He had no issue being a bull on the puck on the offensive side of the puck. |

Yep you didn't sense my sarcasm sorry. Yeah I am one of the biggest defenders of defensemen who get hung out to dry by lazy play (COUGH G AND JAKE COUGH). It sucks to be the one who everyone blames because someone else also makes a mistake but that's the life of NHL Defensemen and Goalies. - dragonoffrost
No, totally got the sarcasm, just elaborating. But on that second goal, Manning was pinching at the red line and was further up-ice that Filppula. Manning should have taken Backstrom down the wing and let Filppula take the player at center. |

Good for one dude.
Also, I'm paraphrasing, but Hextall said that once a player gets up to the NHL level, it's because he is an NHL player. Obviously, injury call-ups are one things, and if a player has trouble adapting, he can be sent down. But more or less, Hexy sees Sanheim as an NHL player, I doubt he'll shuttle him back and forth all season long. |

That's not correct in my opinion. If Manning doesn't take Oshie he can take that pass and go right down the gut on a breakaway. The weak side is the responsibility of the forwards. Defenseman have to keep a tight gap and spacing to their partner. Manning did what he did because that is his responsibility on the breakout. The entire breakout stretch play the Cap ran is designed to take advantage of the weak side by overloading one side and streaking a forward down the off wing. It's a set play that is ran countless times by NHL teams.

I actually think Hakstol has trust in the Hagg/Ghost pair. Look at their ice time. It's creeping up towards Provy/AMac. - dragonoffrost
