Yes he has. Manning has been the worst flyer on the ice. - Just5
Interestingly, the Flyers been outplayed pretty well by FLA at 5v5. A good PP and capitalizing on opportunities is putting them in a good spot.
Not a lot of good possession numbers for anyone. If you're wondering, Manning sporting a CF% of 26 |

how many times in the past couple years have we seen the Flyers have the better of play, but every mistake seems to find its way into their net? isnt it nice to be on the other side of that? - Doc_Sarcasm
This team is just fun. Let's be glad that the patience is paying off |

The Flyers defenseman as a whole have struggled with the Panthers forecheck but Manning has especially had a rough night. - MJL
If the flyers want a more defensive guy with gudas I don't understand how Morin isn't the perfect fit. Manning has had a terrible game. Gudas exclusively plays rd. It's a perfect match. Sanheim really should go down and play all situations top pairing. |

I don't think that's the only reason. If you paid attention ghost alluded to it in his interview at the end of the period. They are being trusted to make more plays. They are holding the puck and concentrating on maintaining possession. Yea they are more skilled. But not so much more that it should be this glaring of a difference imo. - Just5
I know what you're alluding to but the Flyers are playing the same system they played last year. Sure Knoblauch has added some wrinkles especially on the PP but there has been no big overhaul of systems. The Flyers right now are simply better, more skilled, and have some players who are red hot offensively along with lower lines contributing. They have always had the green light to make plays and to be creative offensively. That's always been there, they just haven't executed or been able to create as much in the past.

Both are too much of the same player for the Flyers taste. I think Sanheim should play in the Flyers lineup. His speed and puck skills could help against a team as aggressive on the forecheck as the Panthers are.

They simply have added more skill and speed. It also helps that Giroux is a completely different player from last season. Gostisbehere also. Both players last season struggled for large parts of the year especially early. Their fast starts is a big part of it. - MJL
Leier is the add from last year I'd call fast. Certainly Laughton's skating has really improved but so have his play reads. Hagg and Patrick are certainly skilled. The CGV line idea was a stroke of genius. The gamble paid off because the other three lines are playing well. Giroux is clearly healthy but the results that line is getting is eye opening . . . despite Voracek's poor chances at the Selke. The team is better top to bottom and playing better as a team top to bottom. |

Statistically the Flyers are attempting a lot more behind the net and east west passes. They made a conscious effort to generate more scoring chances and let their talent work. Credit to the coaches. Knob has done a lot of interesting PP stuff too. It's funny that we can't rip the coaches.....but if we say they made good changes.....no, they didn't make changes to the system. |

Provorov struggling with Panthers forechecking as well. But score is what matters . Neuvirth looking solid. Elliot will be back in Thurs but nice job by both to give us good goaltending. Nice job by Neuvirth to keep us in game till we got our legs going. Florida is a big strong team and we're looking good in all areas. |

How does manning differ from Morin in style ? That is so significant that there is no way Morin can play. |

Bill said it best when he stated in a couple of years we're going to be shaking our head that manning got in these games while sanheim remained scratched |

I don't agree with this - Just5
I do. Neuvy with a few timely saves, with the Flyers capitalizing on mistakes. 2 of these goals are line rush goals, and 1 is on the PP. Their first one I can't remember if it was the result of sustained pressure or not...
Either way, they're not manhandling Florida like the score would suggest.
Not complaining, nice to be the team capitalizing. Seems like we haven't been on this side of things in a while |

One noticeable difference on the pp has been more movement. Players were way to stationary at times last year. Now, while the basic setup may be the same or similar, players are moving around and doing a much better job of both finding open seams for passes and getting shots through. |

Don't think the panthers have manhandled the flyers either. Lupngp made a few good saves before the floodgates opened. Also, shot totals are pretty close. Flyers have cashed in on their chances. |

While I'm not disagreeing, surprisingly, the CF% at 5v5 for those 3 are 45ish, 45ish and 50.
Just something that makes you go hmmm. Clearly, they've had quite a nice game tonight generating good chances. Putting the eye test with the numbers, it seems like they've generated a handful of high danger chances but then are a touch on their heels. Certainly not complaining.
Pretty interesting numbers tonight. |

Flyers have been hemmed in at times but they've done a nice job at not allowing second shots or too many really dangerous passes. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm not out here saying the Flyers are playing poorly, just saying it's "one of those games" in my eyes where, if I was a Panthers fan, I'd be looking back saying how the hell is this 4-0 right now with how we're playing.
Loving the Flyers speed. That Weal and Konecny man- seems like every game they make you say sweet. |
