I'm not sure if anyone mentioned Pulock alone can fix the PP? We all know the Isles take years to even try fixing things. It makes zero sense to have Pulock sitting for 6 games same as it makes no sense sitting Beau the last two games. Doug and his staff had all of pre-season to come up with the right system. One point or not, Doug did not get the team into the playoffs last year and he has a ton to prove.

Not for nothing but no matter who coaches this team this is the same team year in and year out. Garth is so scared to make a splash and trade his babies that it is sickening. So if you have the same team each year you are going to get the same results every year it is simple like that.

I would agree. He spoke all off-season about implementing new systems. Where are they? It looks exactly the same as Crappy's systems.

105mph slapshot or not, Pulock alone isn't going to fix the PP. Why he's not playing, I don't know. The reason his shot isn't going to help the PP is BECAUSE of the system. They don't move the puck. They barely move themselves. They don't create shooting lanes. He can't shoot if A) he doesn't have a lane & B) if he doesn't have time & space to wind up for that shot.
I said before the season that I'd give this new staff 2 weeks into the season. Thursday will be 2 weeks. If they look the same as the other games, I'll open fire on Weight & Snow.

I don't think anyone believes Pulock is going to single handedly help the PP it's more why is this kid still not playing when their defense isn't exactly lighting the world afire? Again I'm not losing sleep over it but it just looks like more of the same to me and a lot of other people. I get he didn't have an awe inspiring preseason and I'm not questioning him sitting for a few games to learn the "system" better but what is going on at this point?

Free for all. Zero continuity. 15 to 20 mins of decent play and a solid 40 to 45 mins of total confusion. Yep exactly like Capuano.

No way do I expect 2 PP goals during Pulock's first game. Pulock does give another option for a PP that is not working at all. This is also beyond Pulock. It goes back to Jimmy's point about how this team has developed young prospects. No young prospect should be in the lineup every game if they are lousy, but sitting them multiple games in the pressbox cannot be the solution any longer.

having a guy with a blistering shot does make everyone defending a little nervous. yes they are paid and trained to get in front of the shots but inside, no one wants to. the question is if the team can even get set up in the zone and get a clean pass to him. at this point its beyond ridiculous that he has not been inserted to see if there is a spark. I say just let him fire away, I think you will see people moving once someone gets hit by his shot.

Yep. I believe the consensus is he should have started there if he was going to sit.

Of course though he may. I just heard 105 mph shots are no longer useful in the NHL

I'm not sure a lot of people knew that here saying he should be in Bridgeport. The real question to me Is, is he the next jfb? Does he sit all year cause we can't lose him on waivers and then give him away?

I have no idea why he isn't playing. Not sure if he'd be any worse than the dumpster fire that is CDH & Hickey right now. Mayfield is surprising.
This whole team smacks of Crappy.

In Doug's mind, he seems to think only Mayfield would have to come out for Pulock to play.

Yeah which is exactly my point and has been the entire time. I get it. Its a numbers game but don't tell me someone can't sit a game because their play is just that good to give this kid some playing time. Give him offensive zone starts and put him on the 2nd power play unit. If he performs well expand his responsibilities it's not rocket science. Now watch Weight throw him in for the Rangers game which is a bad idea to begin with and have him out there for defensive draws. Doug Capuano

The Islanders who ruined JF Barube's career by having him a healthy scratch for 2 years b/c Garth Snow thought he was a terrific "asset" ... are now doing the same fken thing to Ryan Pulock. Don't worry about the kid's development. Just sit him in the press box forever b/c you don't want to insult any of your veterans who are playing awful by scratching them... fken joke.

It's been years since Isles coaches have understood managing minutes and matching lines. Guys like Bailey still get more minutes than they should and other players get less than they should.

What's beyond ridiculous is the PP "system". It's a wretched disaster and Weight seems content to continue plowing his head into a brick wall to prove that it will score 1 goal this year. Then he'll say "see, I knew it would work". Forgetting all about the other 60 times it didn't. But it all rolls back to Snow. You know what, forget that. It goes back to the gutless pukes that are the owners. They're allowing this to happen to this organization.

There are several guys that could sit due to there play. Not just rookies. JT could sit out a game. As could Kuli, CDH, Hickey & Bailey, to name a few. But we all know that won't happen. Crappylytics 101. Punish the kids for the sins of the vets.

Why do people always want to bring draft position into this. (not you in particular) By that logic, MDC should play on the first line over Lee. If Pulock isn't doing what he's supposed to or not showing improvement or Weight/Snow are just idiots(that's my vote :thumbsup then he's not going to play. I have no idea why he's not in the line up (outside of Weight/Snow are idiots). The only thing I can think of is ego.
