It's so easy to lose perspective. I mean honestly, the prospects are getting ice, the team is playing hard and they are losing. Isn't that exactly what everyone wants?

No one likes losing...even Tankers are bi-polar about it...or just like to complain...take your pick

Harvest is crazy so I'm not around much, but when I do log in it's an odd mix of wanting to draft high, but also wanting to win; of wanting to develop the prospects properly but also wanting to hand them a bunch of ice time. Etc.

It's... weird here.

If you look at his stats.... they are...

Henrik Z last 3 years

58....60....66

Henrik last 3 years

50....55....73

Daniel last 3 years

44.....61....76
Looks close to me.

3-4 years back sure the Sedins are right there. Just Zetterberg seems to show way more consistency at 37 years old than the Sedins so far at this point.

Plus Zetterberg had 68 points last year not 58.

Where Daniel and Henrik both did not break 50 last season.

I was kinda hoping the Sedins would be close to 60 points each this year but the way things are looking that could be out of reach…but we'll see.

Henrik had 50 points last season, therefore the rest of your statement is void and based on a false hood.

Last year, with 68 points, was the only year that Zetterberg outscored both the twins.

Who knows who'll be healthy and not injured by that point. As it stands for today this is what is likely:

Sedins Granlund
Sven Burmi BB
Gagner Bo Vanek
DD Sutter JV

Preference by that 8-10 game mark would be:

Goldy Bo JV - speed to kill
Sven Granlund BB - effective and offensive plus BB can take face offs
Sedins Vanek - old and slow can punch better with lesser minutes
Gagner Sutter Burmi/DD - rotate per opposition. Some offense too.

Basically give top 6 over to younger and faster. Have them learn to handle and run with it. Losses don't matter as much as future development.

Zhukenov 3 assists today. He's like Goldy. Too good for MHL but not good enough for KHL.

Since the draft lottery was implemented, has any other team fared as poorly as the canucks?

Here's the issue. In the NHL now young and fast is seen as a good thing. Old and slow for savvy experience not so much. But coaches want to win and there is the vet code so things don't shake out as they could.

But here is the thing. If younger players can run with it and prove to TG they get it then the next waive can come in and start learning the NHL game too.

So the groundwork of younger gets good enough to carry more. The rebuild will have some life when old and slow can be turned over for:

Kane Bo BB - Bo gets prime scoring wingers.
Goldy Granlund JV - doing it for now for next gen.
Dahlen Gaudette EP - learning NHL game. Gaudette stronger for face offs now.
Gagner Sutter Lind - ready to serve learning from some vets.

*older retired and traded (LE kept on LTIR or extra)

Probably not.

I hope we get a good player with 6OA.

The issue is playing a 200' game.
Very few can get away with not doing it. Eg Kane OV
Speed & skill is indeed todays game & cost control is everything.
Vets r Vets & only good if they perform to their contract.
Depth at C & D have always been & will always be what makes it all go.

For us we bide our time til the Sedins r gone & thats after this year.
All the wing talent in the world won't overcome the lack of playmakers.
No threat on the point added to that means cup runs.
Having a Price to carry a team is rare & at that its not enough.

As we sit we need EP & Gaudette to be legit & get 5-6 20g scorers out of our F's down the road for balance & tough match ups. Look at the Leafs for an example.

Adding Dahlin would be a huge octane boost. I like Lind's game a lot & Gads can be a nice player to groom into a top 9 role. Players like Sven i don't expect will be here long. This next TDL & draft will be the most imprtant one yet for JB.
