There are more that two on the current team. What are you talking about? Hextall hasn't been the GM for the last 30 years.
- MJL

Provorov came right from jr., Ghost played 20 games "in the system, not Manning( don't say manning ), Haag (winner), Sanheim is a scratch fest so far and Morin still isn't good enough after 3 seasons.

Friedman and Myers just got to the Phantoms.

Hextall hasn't drafted a D that's played more than 5 games in the nhl.

So far he's proven adept at the draft. I'll defend his drafting. Everything else is open ended yet. Not saying the system isn't developing well but it's hardly "proven"

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Hexy has been GM for the last 30 years? Did I miss something?
- MBFlyerfan

He's made two of those picks plus signed Myers after passing on him 7 times.

Hasn't been GM for 30 yrs after all.

Oops. Quoted the wrong poster. Sorry I got you twice.

The Flyers have been drafting well when they've held onto their picks for a long time now. They really haven't blown a 1st round pick since Jeff Woywitka. Hextall has been trying to stockpile picks and emphasize that strength and then develop those picks. I'd say that is a proven system, many teams have had success with it. I think it's inevitable it will work for the Flyers and this season it's starting to really bear fruit. We'll see more as the season rolls along. This question is really about good staffing. The scouting staff is good and I don't see any reason to think the coaching staff isn't going to get these kids going wherever they happen to be playing. Early returns look good, no reason to think things aren't working and Laughton and Hagg are demonstrating sometimes it does take a while.

Can't disagree. Although I'll hold my opinion on the coaching staff.

I think you need to re-read my post. I stated young players under Hextall. I did not state young defenseman under Flyers GM's for the last 30 years. The evidence is clear that the Flyers methods of player development under Hextall is working.

Hextall hasn't drafted a defenseman who has played more than 5 games in the NHL? Who was the GM when they drafted Provorov?
