With the way the lottery is set up now, as evidenced by last year, any team that misses has a great shot at top 3 picks. Which is why I'd want the Rangers to still make the playoffs, barely, but get knocked out in the first round
- Devilspep87

As a whole, outside the top three had a good chance of moving up. Last year with three teams moving up was a statistically improbable. Finishing in the bottom three still has a huge advantage but isn't guaranteed like how it was in the old system.

Jack Hughes has the most buzz since the McDavid/Matthews drafts. He will probably wind up in the Sabres....

Mix of bad luck/poor drafting since 2012. That 2012 draft stunk, they had pick 12, 2013 the Ristolainen pick looks Ok, 2014 losing lotto and Ekblad was rough and the Reinhardt pick is brutal for a #2, 2015 missed out on McDavid, 2016 May turn out OK, I really didn’t like the Middlestadt pick last year.

They’ve had a steady stream of top picks and outside of having a #1 center in Eichel how far along are they? Rough, wouldn’t shock me to see them pick #2 or 3 again this year.

Lol love how this guy is complaining about devils fans coming onto the Rangers thread and talking poop (they really aren't), but then comes on here and says something dumb.

Yeah I went there this morning to try to have some adult hockey conversation. Didn’t go well. It’s so odd to me that I can’t just talk to people from an opposing team about a game.

There is no way Rangers are missing the playoffs Tom, they will bounce back....yesterdays game they should of had a better outcome, Kinkaid played lights out and got us the win. Devils are on the rise but still probably a few years away from competing....for the Rangers it's going to come down to, and like I've been telling my wife for the last decade (she's a Ranger fan), it all comes down to goaltending for the Rangers. If Hank can use his national pedigree and translate that to the NHL playoffs then the Rangers could win the cup. He has to step up in the playoffs and so far I believe he hasn't.

Henrik Lundqvist playoff GAA and save percentage are better than his regular season GAA and save percentage. The problem with the Rangers this year, is they can't score, the coaching is terrible and they have no center depth. They are screwed this year. No matter who the goalie is

-It's only a 4 year deal

-He leads the team in scoring. He's not the problem.

- tomburton99

Nope he's not the problem. Its the weak Centres, and horrible goaltending that NY fans are afraid to talk about. Yes King Henry was a great goalie, but he has faltered for 3 years now. And Shatts will be the next problem, as he will be on a decline with huge $$$. But at least nash and his 7M are leaving town and you guys are always great at attracting free agents.

You litterally have no idea what you're talking about regards to the goaltending. It'd be like me saying the Devils have no youth. But carry on.

My point exactly. Henry is God to you guys and nobody can speak ill of him. Elephant in the room. But thats ok. Keep sending "backup" tendy's to other teams like robin hood. Good luck with the fountain of age.

Cam Talbot had a good year last year, No not so much. He's been pulled twice now. Raanta is hurt. Biron was washed. Valliquette wasn't any good. Chad Johnson, a career back up. Kevin Weekes, great analyst, average goalie. Shall I keep going.

The Rangers issues isn't with Henrik Lundqvist. Just like the Devils issues isn't with Corey Schneider or the young forwards. But please....

I agree with you Tom. Lundqvist is hardly the limiting factor for the Rangers. Just like Cory hasn’t been the problem for us (with some small exception to his off year last year). There’s only so much even the best goalies can do to cover up for the teams problems.
