People need to realize that Brock is just that type of a player. Even in college when he was lighting it up, he'd have a 2 goal game where he was barely noticeable half the time.

He'll rarely have a game where it seems like he's all over the ice

- Nucker101

He's a trigger man for sure. He has some sly moves with the puck but far from a dominate puck possession player. Some of his craftiest work is getting open in scoring position.... not that we saw that on the PP tonight.

Yeah, he should be a great weapon on the PP, anyone who can snipe like that should be someone who the PP should be trying to set up in the slot or half wall.

Well at least the Canucks don't put the fans through decades of that like the Leafs before being shamed into sorting out the front office and go for a full rebuild. I think it's a matter of years instead of decades like the Leafs. We have been much more fortunate here with most generations getting a cup shot after our expansion decade.
- boonerbuck

I don't know if that's relevant or not but sure, we didn't have to go through what they did but when they got new management in and did, it worked. They're still a work in progress but at least they're entertaining.

I now sincerely believe most of this is squarely on Aquilini's head.

Whoever's fault it is, they (frank)ed up big time. And that "fans wont support a rebuild" excuse is looking worse and worse with each passing season that the team bottoms out with a vet-heavy roster and a half empty lower bowl arena.

If there was ever any doubt, it is going to be a very long season. This team is awful and the goalies are absolutely atrocious. 60 point season at best.

I think the Sedins are in way over their heads this season. I desire that. It reinforces that they are too old to resign and opens the possibility of a everything must go sale between TDL and the start of next season.

Newel Clown. Need I say more...

Even in his poor showing, Boeser is a serious threat... he only needs a split second... awesome.

- boonerbuck

Well said and good points. JB has them prospects marinating for that TDL sale...if there are any takers. Why TG can't bench the value of them vets. It's a good development season.

I think they had a couple of accidental tanks as well, that year they signed a bunch of corsi heroes...Pouliot, Fayne, etc.
- Nucker101

The year before they drafted Hall they sold off and said they were gonna build through the draft. They planned a tank. Where they made a mistake was they drafted poorly outside of the first round and they also were unfortunate in that they tanked in poor draft years.

Lowe had no idea what he was doing but he still planned a tank.

The Canucks look awful right now. They have no chemistry and I don't think it is going to change all season. The constant roster changes have caught up to the Canucks and very few of these players have had enough time to play with one another. The power-play looks awful and the puck movement is even worse. It is tough to watch a team try to rely on solo efforts or the Sedin twins who are simply too slow to thrive offensively. The Sedin line in general looks like they cannot keep up to the speed of today;s NHL. The constant slashes, hooks, and interference is going to be called much more often than it was early on in the Sedin's careers. I foresee an awful year despite Benning adding some veteran depth this offseason. The only bright spot might be Boeser and Virtanen making the roster. I'd really like to see these guys work hard and have a successful season playing in the NHL. Even if the team sucks all year, it is very important to develop young talent like these two.

If Benning could somehow trade Eriksson I would immediately change my mind about him. As far as I am concerned right now, Benning has absolutely no clue what he is doing or how to rebuild a team. He has made some positive improvements in the draft, but has also traded away the likes of Jared McCann along with countless late round picks to acquire players who are already in the prime of their career.

As long as the Canucks can build around young talent like Juolevi, Horvat, Boeser and Demko they should be alright. If Benning starts fishing for veterans to help the team win now, I could see a very slow and painful rebuild for Canuck fans.

Agree with this. They did have a couple of planned tanks, but I truly believe that at least 1 one of the tanks was unplanned, like a couple of Benning's.

Why are we caring if the team sucks? Isn't that what we want? How come we're pissed that the team is going to end up failing to a top 5 pick (even if that's not the team's stated goal (or plan for that matter). So what if the PP sucks, and the Sedins are ineffective, it's not like we didn't expect this.

I really would like to see the comments here if the Canucks ever did manage to win a Stanley Cup, would we still complain if we didn't win the Cup going 16-0 in the playoffs? It's game 4 FFS, TG is experimenting with his lineup and trying to see what he has before he settles on what he considers to be his best lineup/matchups/TOI.

Some days I wonder if this city and fans even deserve to have a pro team here.

Yeah, I'm not about to celebrate a team's rebuild that has that many holes because they rushed things. If the measuring stick is to be highly entertaining... then yeah, they are successful. It's a little too early to say this management group can't build a entertaining team. If it's about a cup... well I like what playing the long game can bring... like the Oilers... they played the long game with the high drafting... Toronto... the complete opposite and I'll put my money on the Oilers having the full package for a cup in a couple of seasons... I like the long game... not the rush... patience right?

Toronto and Edmonton committed to a rebuild, the Canucks won't, therein lies the difference imo. The Canucks are still trying to be competitive with crap players instead of youth.

I just watched the last five minutes of the game and Boeser scored, that's what I want to see, let the kids play and I'll watch. I don't care if they lose, give them minutes. Keep feeding the older players minutes and I'm not watching and it looks like attendance agrees with that sentiment.

- LeftCoaster

Take a look at all the expiring contracts and marinating prospects.

Don't think there is a generational Center for 2018 but hey a lotto win and they are turning the corner with accumulated young players and prospering prospects.
