There’s something about this roster — yeah, there will be lulls, but they look like they should be able to weather down periods quickly

We could be 3-1-1 or 4-1.
But this win helps erase the last 3 minutes vs Nashville and 3-2 is not to shabby. - Buzzo

The Good
1st Line: G flying out there, Jake actually making the right decisions tonight.
Weal: He's just incredibly impressive, night in and night out
4th Line: Laughton dude...pooptttt. Different player, confidence is through the roof
The Okay (notables)
AMac: Horrendous coverage on the first goal against. Other than that...meh
Manning: For how much we female dog about him, he was ok. I'll still be salty when he plays in favor of Sanhiem however. Of note, only Flyers dman to have a sub 50% CF
Elliot: He's not impressive. Adequate but I'd like more. That second goal he could have challenged more...should of had. Just kidding, I'm not pinning the goal on him- it was poor d coverage, but I still want him to at least give me a little more and be in a better position to make a save.
I don't really think of any bad or uglies. This was a game where everyone played pretty damn well. Can't female dog too much either way.
What a (frank)ing game. - Giroux_Is_God
elliott sagged into the crease and to the left a bit, gave up the right side and got smoked. nice shot. had he held his ground, he might have saved it. he played well after that i guess. i dunno'....i just don't love what i see yet.

Not gonna find a lot of bad when you win 8-2, thought every forward, even Weise lol, played well, and many, 1st line, Laughton, Weal and Filppula were outstanding.
For the D, Provorov and Hagg were dominant and Ghost was fantastic. Provorov and Hagg could be this team's top pairing sooner than many think. Gudas had his best game of the season, he played under control which is what he needs to do. AMac was AMac, a mistake here and there, but overall ok. Manning is what he is a 6/7 Dman. The less I see of him the better.
Elliott was fine. You need your goalie to give you a chance to win, and he did that. I don't the Flyers goalies to be Bernie Parent, I just need these 2 guys to be consistent and to not give up softies. Tonight, mission was accomplished.
One more thing, the 1st line tonight put up numbers that were worthy of the LCB line and the Legion of Doom! |

Honestly, I don't think its going to be a pretty year goaltending. The key is going to be giving up fewer than they get. They had no business losing a game in which they scored 5 goals (referee bullpoop notwithstanding). Also, they're going to need to continue scoring at 5v5 AND on the PP. |

This game just made me more excited to lose Filppula later in the season. I really want to see Giroux, Couturier, Patrick and Laughton down the middle. |

i don't know yet. they're both capable of playing great. neuvirth was outstanding in LA. elliott has been average best. it's 5 games in, nothing to get overly excited about either way.
i'll take 2-2 on a road trip to start the season, especially out west. nice smack down at home in game 1. i'm pleased. just wish we had more kids in there. have to be more patient. not my strong suit. |

Absolutely about the forwards. For what it's worth, I do the "notable" okays. If you're listed in the okays, it's either good that you're ok (Manning) or bad that you're ok (Jake a few nights ago). If your name isn't listed at all in my GOBU it's a good thing, really.
Wasn't ripping Elliot. He did his job tonight, I was talking more of his season's body of work in my little blurb.

Agree with the overall assessment of Elliott's play, but at the end of the day he's 3-1 where it matters most. |

You bet! What a game tonight. I was almost in shock
The team this year is light years different than last. This team is good. First good team in the last few years as opposed to slightly above average |
