I guess. My point is, they had options and ultimately decided to let them take him. This whole story that he didn't have value is horsepoop.

Agreed. I was promoting the idea of trading him for a 3rd or 4rth rounder and exposing someone else. Small fry but some kind of compensation for a part of the Kesler deal was desirable that's for sure.

Sutter and Gudbranson I think is basically how it shakes out for Kesler now as far as players go.

Looking at it through that narrow scope doesn't look so bad of you are a fan of Sutter and Gudbranson.

Nah, I don't think it works that way either, a GM is responsible for getting value for his players that will or might not be returning. If he didn't try it doesn't look good and if he tried and failed, still doesn't look good.

Read again. It can't be denied he failed to do it... history dictates that(unless you are Trump)... but the mistake would be not trying. Are you saying trying is a mistake because he failed?

I'm pushing it... hard.

I think Derrick Pullout will be a good player for us, not as good as gudbranson though.

He'll want to finish his contract elsewhere by TDL knowing the Sedins are walking. I know you think they are getting resigned but I don't. So hopefully instead of LE looking for easy points on this contract like he did when he signed it... maybe he'll get into selling himself mode... that's what we need. LE needs to be on a PP full of talent to be successful and I'm sure he and his agent know this... like I said, it was the reason for choosing Van to begin with... not success but easy points.

I thought you were suggesting he should not bear the responsibility of failing but I see now that you referring to it being specifically a mistake or not.

I responded to Neem saying it was a mistake for not getting anything for him. Trying wouldn't be a mistake. Neem still may be correct. I just have no idea if JB tried or not. I remember a few rumours for what thats worth.

It also doesn't work this way...He could try and fail to get value for Mackenzie Stewert if he fails? Does it still not look good? There has to be a market for the asset. Come on Belcher

He was only offered a 2nd for him. If he'd have taken it then it would have made him a mark for future trades. Better that he held out for the first and lost him for nothing (protected guance though).

What's with all the horrendous mismanagement of players nowadays (Shipachyov, Duchene, etc...)?

I must have misunderstood that the debate was about whether Sbisa had any value. I thought it was already established he had a decent year and looked like he should of been worth something.

I've been hard on Sbisa at times but never compared him to Stewart.

Let me put this another way, does Gillis deserve credit for trying to draft well?

Stewart was just my example for something with zero value. I personally don't think Sbisa had value just because of his contract but only JB can answer that. if he actually had value at the TDL but didn't try and move him? Well then he is an idiot. But this is purely speculation on all our parts.

What options?
Traded Burrows...1st domino
Traded Hansen...2nd domino...protected roster down 1
Keep Sbisa & 7 other skaters?...talk about a riot
Every team can read CapFriendly like we can.
Other teams had their own e-draft problems.
What team offered what for Sbisa that was turned down by JB?
GM's can trade at will & force a deal thats not there?

Lol... I do endorse this message.

Ridicules that people are saying we should have got value for sbisa last year.

It's pretty straight forward that we could have traded a late pick to keep him, for one option. I would have done that and then had sbisa as a rental for this TDL. It's all candies and nuts at this point, but there were plenty of options to insure that gaunce or boucher or some other non-roster fringe guy got picked.

But if he has value and jb doesn't trade him then jb should be fired.

If he doesn't have value then jb should have put him in a position to get value and jb should be fired.

And if he had value and jb doesn't trade him, then jb should be fired.

First of all... my debate wasn't about credit. I never said "well at least he tried"

If you want to debate from a position of whether he deserves credit or not... my position is no. I made it clear... I wanted compensation. I was disappointed.

This is what happens when you don't back read before entering a debate.
