Be nice if 91 was even noticeable - Upstate_isles
I noticed him shoot wide on two gaping wide empty nets. |

Butch said we lost the game due "to bad luck". No butchie it was due to Pelech scoring on his own team, hickey taking one of the dumbest (frank)ing penalties I've ever seen, Tavares missing two wide open nets, and Doug Capuano's power play being so inept that they have given up more goals against then actually scored. That's (frank)ing ridiculous. This team is (frank)ing pathetic and so is Doug Capuano. He is unwilling to change something that clearly doesn't work. Clearly he doesn't have an alternate plan. That's a serious problem. |

Is he still happy with his 6 defenseman because they have been playing really well? Id really like to hear him clarify how his defenseman are playing good. |

The D has been about what I expected...not really helping the cause but not really ruining it either. We knew going in the D wouldn't be lights out, and if the offense was as electric as some of us had hoped, I think we could live with the D.
But they just don't seem to have any good ideas when they get in the offensive zone. They pass it around the outside a bit, one guy goes to the net, but by the time a soft shot goes toward the goalie's chest, that guy's already peeling away from the net. They look out of synch like they've hardly played together. So for most of the games they just sort of hang around until it's time for the full-court press in the third period to see if they can complete a comeback. Rather than electric, they've been kind of boring to watch most periods. |

That's because they only play one period per game. Against the Ducks, it was the first. San Jose, the 2nd. Last night, well...
I still can't fathom how this coaching staff can't see the PP isn't working and not make some changes. Change your lines, change your strategy, the approach. Anything. I guess if you only have one plan, it's the one you go with. |

Yep, I wonder how many of the problems I mentioned would go away if the PP was even close to average. They'd probably be a little more relaxed mentally on offense overall if they knew they could rely on the power play for a goal once in a while, and they probably could have even been playing with the lead every now and again. |

well this PP is really an issue. We realistically should be 5-1 this season given our 5 on 5 play instead of 2-3-1.
We absolutely dominated Kings in 2nd and 3rd period. The difference? Their PP scored and ours didnt.
Also how the hell did JT miss that open next in closing seconds of the game? noone touched it. He missed.
That said, this west coast trip i a grueling one. I think our Play has been good and Barzal and JHS continue to blow me away on how good they are.
4points we should of had this weekend lost. Oh well. Lets blow the doors off Rags thursday and then build from there.
Weight really need to let go of his contribution to PP. his PP set up sucks. |

Start playing tighter, gripping the stick tighter and you start making more mistakes. More mistakes = less confidence. How can we all see a very big problem (the PP) and the coaches not do anything to address it? It's bizarre. Oh, wait, that's right. It's the Islanders. |

im not expert on PP but sitting still and only relying on Boychuk slapper from point or Tavares shot through 4 players bodies isnt working.
did anyone see how smooth the La Kings PP was? unbelievable |

None of us are. Yet we all see it's failure and why it's failing. ANd a bunch of foromer long-time NHLers can do nothing about it. |

This is the frustrating thing. By playing one good period per game they show they can play good high energy hockey, but for some reason they don't do it for the whole game. |
