Well, it's a complicated issue. By adding some presence in what is still a part of the game it might deter future such incidents against other Hawk players. Possibly?

I’d actually like to see some research on that - just anecdotally, I’m guessing that there is very little deterrence resulting from fighting.

Again anecdotally, I’m guessing that legal, appropriate hard hits DO have an effect - emphasize legitimate and appropriate.
