Agree- When Anisimov plays third line Center it’s all better
Stay healthy Smaltz!

However
You can’t win in this league scoring 1 goal....period

I’ll give Toews 10 games but from what I’ve seen
Patrick Sharp at 1 Million looks as good as Toews at 10 Million- maybe better

So...

...I guess the offside rule struck again tonight.

Considering how often the officials screw up replay, why not just let the original on-ice call stand regardless.

It'll be a wash in the end and the flow of the game isn't stopped cold.

So then, I ask my question again. If this was considered possession, then why when a goalie plays the puck in front of the forbidden zone and passes it through the zone into the trapazoid, why don't they call that a penalty for playing it in the corner?
- powerenforcer

Are you asking why the goalie is allowed to pass the puck into corner zones? Because if so, there's no rule against that - the zone is only forbidden to be played in, not through or into. As long as they don't touch the puck after it settles into the corner zone, it's not against the rule.

I don't really see how that's related to this but I'm still iffy on the current situation. Honestly, the offside ruling was dumb but I think change to give a penalty to a failed review is even dumber. They wanted to try to make teams only use the review if they really really really felt it was an egregious offside but we can see now that it'll just add another level of clucker(frank) to the process.

Hey Bogie...

WTF was that tonight with the officiating...yikes...just brutal. Meanwhile hoping Schmaltz is back Saturday can't go throught another game with AA centering Kane and Hartman

It's not all on Anisimov - Hartman couldn't carry or pass into the zone well the last few games. That's not really his thing, though he can do it with rushing numbers. And Kane need to be better in his own zone. Again, not his thing but a little more awareness. This game was better than the last two in that regard though.

I'm gonna stay positive after this loss tonight, and now that the anger with the refs has subsided I can say that there were a lot of positives to take away from this game. Haven't checked the #s but it seemed like we were the slightly better team 5v5 as far as possession/chances go, especially after about the midway point of the 2nd period.

All of that with the bogus line combos(not having Schmaltz has caused a chain reaction, its been well documented by now).

So when Schmaltz comes back I think we can become a very dangerous team as long as we hold up defensively. Still liking what I'm seeing from Forsling and Rutta, and Kempny too for the most part. Wish 2 and 7 weren't as washed up as they are, but hey, they're still good enough for one more run IMO if the other 2 pairings can be solidified.

You'll very likely need them.

The Hawks were the better team in terms of shot metrics, including scoring chances, yes. They had a lax 1st but both teams barely did anything so it impacts the numbers there a bit but the Hawks clearly controlled the 2nd, just owning the last 10 of the period, and then were slightly better in the 3rd up until the offside review. Again, this just tells you the trend of the game, not necessarily who should have won, but the shot numbers mesh with what we saw on the ice.

So yeah, lots of good for this game. It feel a bit like the Jackets games where there were times where the team wasn't all going and mistakes were made, but overall, they looked good and finished well. Score is the big difference of course, but extenuating circumstances playing into that.

What are the odds the Nats leadoff man in the 9th is walked?

Haven't seen Q that pissed in a while, blaming the loss on that power play and saying the officials got it wrong

Probably get fined for that

Didn't go through the thread so sorry if this is a duplicate but I know a lot of you all have been watching hockey for a while and wanted to pass along that Gary Warwick Sr died. He was one of the real innovators in goalie masks. You all would know his work from Belfour's masks.

Someone gave someone the Q grab earlier in this thread but Q himself was comparatively restrained
