Too much to give up for Duchene with less than 2 years left on his cap friendly contract...this should be a straight up trade...1 for 1 with Galchenyuk on a better/longer contract. Throwing in top D prospect (after seeing how brutal the Habs D is this year) is too much. Even swap or focus on signing Tavares in the off season. Galchenyuk will light it up elsewhere and be a 30 goal, 60 - 70 point guy when utilized with the proper players/system. |

Galchenyuk scored 30 goals 2 years ago, was 10th in NHL in points before his knee injury. Not sure why it is not clicking right now. I think he'll thrive in a new environment but would not make that trade. Cannot afford to lose Subban, Sergachev, beaulieu, Juulsen, markov in two years.
I would be willing to part with maybe Lindgren or McNiven however.

That's the key point right there.. WAS good! the knee injury really screwed him up and has no speed anymore...plus, there's rumours left and right that he has issues off the ice...If I'm the AVS, I don't even do this deal without having to pony up the pick! |

Don't see it as a mobility issue. It's not like he had big speed. Plus his points were not created off the rush but rather being set up in the offensive zone, off the right wing on the PP. It's not physical with him, it's a mental block right now. Plus playing with guys like Danault, Gallagher, Shaw....these are not skilled guys. He's the type of kid who thrives with skilled players of which unfortunately there are not many right now on the habs. |
