Don't forget the couple of "get out of jail free" cards they played after CBA negotiations. The Bryz contract would have been a travesty. Hexy will not let those types of things happen.

When hopefully the Flyers young players develop and they become a better team and move towards contender status, are you telling me that Hextall isn't going to role the dice and use free agency or acquire a high cap hit player to fill a perceived hole to try and win it all when the opportunity presents itself?

Back checking isnt a wingers job. They are to cover the Dmen

Really? Review the first Forsberg goal in the recent Nashville game.

Always sad to see someone with a long career get to that point.
I dont think Iginla, one of my all time fav players, has officially retired yet either.

I did and I still fail to see how that is on Giroux. It is basic hockey coverage. Wingers cover the attacking Dmen, the Dmen cover the attacking Wingers and The C covers the attacking C. The only exceptions to the rule are coverage switches which are done to prevent criss crossing. I have been playing hockey since I was a kid and this is what I have been told repeatedly by coaches. If players start switching coverages for the hell of it, that is how players lose their man and a guy is left open.

Hextall has managed the cap pretty well....he just has to avoid the "bad" contract going forward....there should be enough youth that he shouldn't be tempted.

Hmmmm....Dale Weiss.

Yes I know you said "Going forward"...but that's a 4 year boo boo

Leier got beat to the net. Many times a winger or even a center has back checking responsibilities all the way to the net. Typically the first forward back assumes the center position defensively. What you're describing is what happens once the puck is established in the defensive zone such as on a cycle. The Preds attacked with two skater at the point of attack which the defenseman had covered. Forsberg skated hard to the net on the off side wing which is the responsibility of a back checking forward unless you think that two defenseman are capable of covering 3 attackers spread out across the ice. The statement that wingers don't have back check responsibilities is false.

I think it may be possible that AMac gets traded this season. Hextall will work his magic just like he did with Grossman, Vinny, L.Schenn, Pronger ect. Of course there will likely be a % of his cap retained but I think Hexy gets it done. Lehtera will be bought out of his final year like Umberger was
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Amac is not a tradeable player unless there is another cap dump coming back or the flyers send draft picks.

A trade may be possible at some point if the Flyers retain salary.

How many points does a winger have to score to be worth $2.35m a year?

The Girardi and Russell contracts indicate otherwise.
