4 day layoffs seem like the angry dog days of summer.
Gudas is ok spare his stupid penalties.
I like when he connects legally though and an opposing player goes flying.

i would prefer the angry dog days of summer because at least that anger wasn't directed at a blown lead due to a comedy of errors with nothing but 4 days to wait for another game.

More from FootballBuzz...

Apparently the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has vacated the injunction against Ezekiel Elliott's 6 game suspension, possibly (barring further appeals) clearing the way for the suspension to take effect.

Well...looks like that Skins game next week is going to be huge.

These next 2 games are the biggest on the schedule with the way things look right now

According to TSN, Pete DeBoer has the best odds of being the first NHL coach fired this year.

All you Hak haters can take solace (I guess?) in the fact that your favorite target is tied for 6th most likely to get canned. Odds given: 12-1.

I think he will. However, I do not think he will sign a goalie to a 7 year contract or sign a 35 year defensemen to a long contract. He will be more calculating.

Just think Hextall will rely more on internal options and trades to fill the most important roles. JMHO

- mickel25

The Flyers under Holmgren relied more on trades and free agency which is not easy to do in a cap league. No doubt that Hextall will build his teams with the draft and supplement with other methods but I have no doubt that Hextall will dish out some big contracts if he sees the need. What makes him different from every other GM?

Where's PLind to remind us that Jake Guentzel who just scored for Pitt could of been a Flyer?

He scored 2 NHL goals by actually shooting the puck while playing goal. That makes him different from every other GM.

I wouldn't count on Ghost becoming expendable. He's one of the most dynamic PP quarterbacks in the league.

I think if all goes as planned, AMac and/or Gudas will be the ones replaced. How soon that happens remains to be seen but as the young defensemen develop in the NHL, the reluctance to introduce more youth will only decrease. They need proven commodities in the line up before introducing more uncertainty.

- Baxter27

I wouldn't count on it either but I also wouldn't rule it out. Even if they move MacDonald and Gudas, there is still a potential jam of defenseman if the impossible happens and they all pan out. How long are they going to be able to keep Sanheim off of the PP? Not counting Provorov, I think Sanheim has to the potential to be the most dynamic two way defenseman out of all of them. I think he has more physical tools than Gostisbehere has and could wind up not only dynamic with the puck but also solid defensively. I don't see Gostisbehere ever being more than just adequate defensively.

Wow. I think Tampa might have just scored with 1/10th of a second on the clock to make it 2-1 at the end of 1 period.

Why yes, yes they did. Impressive.

It's all just a matter of people stereotyping players. There is a modicum of hyperbole in there because I was responding to MJL, but what Radko is actually good at doesn't seem like what he SHOULD be good at. Gudas even repeated this same stuff all last season, actually improving his offense, to only corroborate what I wrote.

- Mononoke

The problem was then and remains now, the standard by which you label Gudas an offensive defenseman. His willingness to shoot the puck whenever he can plus the results of what happens when he is on the ice in combination with his teammates does not make him an offensive defenseman. He's not going to play on the PP, he's not going to be double shifted late in games when a team is looking for goals. If a team is looking to add offense to the back end, they're not going to call up Hextall inquiring about Gudas. He's a decent all around player so calling him a 2 way defenseman would be fair but in essence he is a defensive defenseman.

Not feeling good about the Eagles game tonight. Hope I'm wrong. Maybe the dog fight Panthers were in on Sunday will help.

Yup, Wentz is going to need to have his head on a swivel. Nice job by the Eagles D to take the momentum back.

amazing that Peppers can still bring it. Not many 37 year old pass rush specialists.
