Well, he did win the Calder and finish second in Vezina voting in 2009,and he was a top-5 goalie (what I'd consider "elite') during the 14/15 season. So that's when. But it was a joke, sparky.
And I agree, we could have used Schenn taking the dumbest penalty in the history of the NHL to blow a 2-goal lead. That's what this team is lacking right now. - jmatchett383

Mason was never an elite goalie. A lot of players win the Calder, it doesn't automatically make them elite. Even if it did, it didn't make Mason elite here...in Philly, where it matter.

Anyone remember when he was lit up two seasons ago again Florida in their home opener? The Leafs aren't exactly garbage. Show of hands of who watched that Hawks/Leafs game last night because I did. That's the same argument of Giroux came 10th in voting for the Selke in the 2014-15 season. It doesn't mean anything. People only remember the winning and only care to look up the two nominatees the winner was up against.
