agree on Gudas and AMAC. I actually think they could trade Gudas at the deadline this year. If they are not in position to make a run at the playoffs, I think they will.

AMAC still hard to trade this off season. He is a 4-6 d man, that should be 2 mil tops in salary. I think the Flyers would have to sweeten the deal with a pick, at the very least hold salary. Pray AMAC has a good year with Provorov, then maybe a trade wont be so bad. He has actually played pretty well the first 3 games, fingers crossed.

I like AMAC, he took the money and he should have. He is paid as a top 4 D and he is not a top 4.

Billl where are you going to subject yourself to the knee jerk reaction crowd? I know philly.com can be pretty bad.

I think nearly all here are all aboard the rookie dmen train and to let them make mistakes.

I think Morin is the first option if any D get hurt, which is inevitable. Otherwise, let him focus on playing the off D at LHV. I give Hakstol full marks for sticking with Sanheim. I think he struggled more in his second game than some folks but I want see more of plays ending with him sprawled next to the opponent goalie because he took the puck hard to the net.
- fls13

Personally I think there is zero chance they have Morin work on his Off side...NONE! As has been suggested, they are going to season Hagg to replace Mac on the first pair...or possibly Sandman if he makes big strides. The reality is the brass has been very vocal about liking natural righty and lefties on the pairings to balance it. Then next season, we'll see if Sammy comes up...otherwise he is trade fodder.

100%.... when do they plan on figuring out what they have with Morin.....there's not a chance in hell he makes it through waivers.
- landros 2

good point that come next season both Morin and Hagg must be on the roster or be sent through waivers. I guess its an amazing problem to have but one they need to figure out. guess this is what happens when you draft heavy on defense in a small amount of time and have the players look to be "hits". and just think there is a good chance by Friedman and Myers could make it as well

My favorite Morin goal has actually been from the right side, though I doubt the offensive zone is the reason why he prefers the left side.

Nice seeing the Flyers starting the season with multiple changes to the team's overall makeup and playing style.

It will be interesting to see if Morin gets sent down to work on the right side and they go to 7 D on the roster which F will get the call up from LHV. Will we see that player get put on a line with Nolan and TK to try and get more speed or is size and working the wall a better option, guessing Lehtera gets inserted for Weise soon. If that doesn't give this line a boost maybe double shifting Simmer or Weal with them from time to time could, it would definitely be fun to watch.

One issue that has bothered me during the first three games is Jake having a pass first mentality instead of shooting the puck when he has it in prime scoring area ...... Shoot the damn puck 93!!! Especially when Couts or G are driving the center lane!! Hopefully coaches point it out in his video sessions.

Oh as much as I want Amac to sit for a rookie, I must give him props on a decent start to his season.

Lets go Flyers!!!!!

I'd hate to break up that 4th line but I'd move Raffl up in the lineup and either play Weise or Read on the 4th line.

The reward that could come from continuing to play Sanheim right now could potentially be very high and could come sooner than one might think. He has such raw ability that he could be a player that changes the face of the team in the very near future. Even more than Hagg and Morin might be.
- MJL

I think you're probably going to be right about that. I still think Morin had the best pre-season start to finish. He paired with Gostisbehere a lot and I think it was Gostisbehere who flipped to the off D. I think it was Provorov who flipped when he was paired with Sanheim for one game.

Playing the off D is a must and if that's the issue, I can understand that. It's odd in that playing the off wing for a forward gets talked about more, but playing the off D is much tougher and might be the last big piece of the puzzle for Morin. I can't wait to see that giant out there, clogging up lanes wherever he goes.

None of that matters. When you're in a group of six, you have to be able to play the off D especially if you're a left handed shot. Right-handed Dmen are a super valuable commodity. The Flyers have one, Gudas. Guys get hurt in game, they take penalties. Lefties have to able to play the right side. It's a job requirement.

great write up Bill. I think most if not everyone on here would like to see Morin in the lineup, but everything you said makes sense. It sucks, but at this point from Haks stand point there isn't room for him in the lineup. I guess it's a good problem to have.

My only question/concern is what does this do for his confidence?

Haha.

I think maybe it's so they bring him up to back up at the NHL level and let Lyon still play with the Phantoms since Tokarski is on a two way deal and Irving was an AHL deal only.

People have been predicting Hextall will get rid of Gudas ever since he traded for him. At the 2016 deadline some silly people thought two 2nds was a good enough return to move him.

But I doubt he's in a hurry to move the team's only RHD, who he signed to a reasonable deal.

No it isn't. Lots of LHD never play the right side. Like Ivan Provorov.

Flyers twitter has to be drunk haha...they acquired Tokarski from San Diego for future considerations and then traded Leland Irvang to San Diego for future considerations

The team likes Provorov on the left side. Same with Gostisbehere. The issue is, based on my reading of Bill's column, playing the off D is the big hole in Morin's game. That is a reasonable thing to get him working on. It effects so much defensively and is a much bigger deal than playing the off wing. When a rush is coming at you on your natural side, your stick is on the mid-ice lane side of the ice. If you're on your off D, it's on the boards side plus you're on your backhand coming up the boards. It's a key issue.
