It's really a tough situation. I'm not at all happy that Morin is not playing but I understand the dilemma. I have no issue with the coaches decision making here but they need to figure out a solution at some point. Can't keep the kids out of the lineup for long if they're ready.

Morin won't be waiver exempt next year so they won't have this luxury of sending him down to the AHL wihout the significant risk of losing him. I would hope that would be enough to force their hand to find a spot for him.
I also hope he gets his shot before then and think he will.

AMAC and Gudas only have 2 years on their deals after this season, so if a trade is warranted..it can happen.

- Baxter27

100%.... when do they plan on figuring out what they have with Morin.....there's not a chance in hell he makes it through waivers.

On merits Macdonald and Manning shouldn't be playing ahead any of the 3 rookies ...but apparently the logjam is preventing the best options from playing ....got it.
- landros 2

I think an argument can be made for playing all 3 of the rookies but saying it's on merit is not a good argument.

And they just might have the same issue next season if Myers is ready to go.

I’d like to know what more they’d like Morin to show.

Let’s see if the media has the balls to ask such a question or for Hex/Hak to answer.

It is.

I guess i see it as Morin will eventually play because there are bound to be injuries.

But if you do it that way it still might be just a small sample size unless it's a long term injury.

If Morin is ready they just might have to move Gudas maybe.

What makes you think it would actually take balls for a media member to ask that of Hakstol and Hextall?

Nice seeing the Flyers starting the season with multiple changes to the team's overall makeup and playing style.

It will be interesting to see if Morin gets sent down to work on the right side and they go to 7 D on the roster which F will get the call up from LHV. Will we see that player get put on a line with Nolan and TK to try and get more speed or is size and working the wall a better option, guessing Lehtera gets inserted for Weise soon. If that doesn't give this line a boost maybe double shifting Simmer or Weal with them from time to time could, it would definitely be fun to watch.

One issue that has bothered me during the first three games is Jake having a pass first mentality instead of shooting the puck when he has it in prime scoring area ...... Shoot the damn puck 93!!! Especially when Couts or G are driving the center lane!! Hopefully coaches point it out in his video sessions.

Oh as much as I want Amac to sit for a rookie, I must give him props on a decent start to his season.

Lets go Flyers!!!!!

Really....ok English. The better 3 players should be playing....it's not even that these kids provide a better option in the future....in my opinion they offer that today.....of course that's just my opinion.

There is really only two possible solutions as I see. Trade or waive and demote MacDonald, and play Gudas with Provorov. The other is to trade Gudas. I know what I vote for.

The media has asked....the coach and GM differ on the answer....I would rather the kids play...but they obviously see it differently. So be it...

Easy call....perhaps waive or demote Manning as another option...and use Macdonald as the #7?

They are going to send Morin down and they are going to say its his first pass out of the zone hasn't been crisp enough because 2 or 3 times he dumped it off the wall under heavy forecheck in the preseason.

He s been in the AHL for 2 years, why wouldn't they try him on the right side earlier? Not trying to be critical, just seems odd a that wasn't tried over a longer for the last 2 years.

Really, here it is in English. None of the 3 rookies right now are better than MacDonald is, especially in the role that MacDonald is playing in. They may be more talented and have far more upside but they aren't better right now.

Yes, you're right. That is a 3rd option but the thing with that is that it give the coach the opportunity to play a veteran over a rookie. Same thing would be present with Manning as the 7th but I think it would have less pull with the coach.

Great breakdown of the D situation. Since they don't seem to want to play Morin with Gudas and he can't play the right side, it's hard to find room for him right now.

I don't think Morin would have gone on this trip if Ghost hadn't had that injury issue. If he doesn't play tomorrow he would only have missed two AHL games, so it's not going to affect his development.

Definitely a "rock and a hard place" situation regarding Morin. Sucks for him but it will eventually work out in the long term. Meanwhile, it's one of those good problems to have so I'll not complain about the defense pairings.
- Scoob

That would be a good combo.

I believe it was Friedman-Myers over the weekend, and while Friedman played the left side at times in college, it's better to have him on his strong side.

Giroux has been in the league for 10 years. Why didn't they switch him back to wing years ago? Then he wouldn't have to be adjusting to it now.

Billl where are you going to subject yourself to the knee jerk reaction crowd? I know philly.com can be pretty bad.

I think nearly all here are all aboard the rookie dmen train and to let them make mistakes.

I think Morin is the first option if any D get hurt, which is inevitable. Otherwise, let him focus on playing the off D at LHV. I give Hakstol full marks for sticking with Sanheim. I think he struggled more in his second game than some folks but I want see more of plays ending with him sprawled next to the opponent goalie because he took the puck hard to the net.

The reward that could come from continuing to play Sanheim right now could potentially be very high and could come sooner than one might think. He has such raw ability that he could be a player that changes the face of the team in the very near future. Even more than Hagg and Morin might be.
