Not that Mcdonagh can't do, but you put more of workload on him by putting him on his off side and playing him with Staal. But that's the issue with 4 lefties, somebody has to do it.

Yes and no. Staal is pretty much a stay at home d-man, where Shattenkirk also loves to join the rush. At least with Staal, McDonagh knows who is going to be back if he decides to start or join a rush. Ofcourse this is all based on Staal keeping up his level of play.

The AHL is probably, at the very least, extremely comparable (in terms of talent) to the Czech league. Even if we pretend for a minute that the leagues are somehow absolutely identical in talent, it'll be good for him to get used to smaller ice with a less-steep learning curve.

Yeah, and hopefully the Pack is playing the same system as the Rangers. Sounds dumb, but I know for a bunch of years they weren't.

Truthfully, it's probably more beneficial for his development to have him playing in the AHL on a NA sheet, even if it burns a year of his ELC, than it would be to send him back to the Czech league.

I cannot. I hope that is the case though. Of course I don't want Smith to be hurt, but that can be the only explanation for Holden-Kampfer pair to get a 2nd straight game. If not than AV has no idea how to utilize players.
