Yeah, buts its always good to have more time than less to make a decision. Is the AHL considered far an above better talent than where he would be playing in Europe? I just think if they have no intention of letting him play with the Rangers, send him back to Europe.
Now if they are going to send him to the AHL for big minutes, and he plays well and they bring him back up, I'm all for it. - mdw7413
yeah the AHL is way better than the Czech league he's in. So in that sense, it's good to go to the AHL. It's just goes back to contractual control though. Sending back there allows him to play against men, while not starting the clock on his contract. Same thing with the CHL, but he'll be playing against kids his own age. |

Yeah, same. It's not a bad plan if he rejoins the team later on. Either way he is going to play but if he is with the Pack he can get called up. If he is over seas I am guessing he is lost for the year? |

Seeing Staal is paired with Mac in the morning skate, he's been ok but why does Mac have to be AV's crutch? put Staal where he least hurts us on the 3rd pair with sheltered minutes |

As long as part of their plan is to bring him up if he plays well with the Pack, I'm cool with it. |

But he's not playing poorly. If he thrives in that spot I don't mind. But what they have left for the third pairing leaves a bit to be desired. |

That's pretty much how I read that. Keep him close, let him get some minutes, and potentially call him up in case of injury (provided he shows enough development.) |

He's been fine though. If Staal starts playing bad, then yeah, shelter his minutes. As of right now, shockingly, he has been one of our best defenders in this short season so far. |

Id guess they have intentions of bringing him back up. But I also wouldn't be surprised if AHL is more competitive than the Czech league too. |

The Czech league operates similar to the EPL. If you don't make the playoffs you have to play on the under circuit to save your season. Chytil's team last year was saved because they were on of the team that advanced out of relegation. HC Karlovy Vary relegated last year. |

Truthfully, it's probably more beneficial for his development to have him playing in the AHL on a NA sheet, even if it burns a year of his ELC, than it would be to send him back to the Czech league. |

Not that Mcdonagh can't do, but you put more of workload on him by putting him on his off side and playing him with Staal. But that's the issue with 4 lefties, somebody has to do it. |

Ok. Bad teams have to fight to save there seasons by playing in a relegation round after the regular season ends. Whoever loses in that get's demoted. |

Yeah. I just don't really know anything about the comparison of competition between the Czech league and the AHL. Seems everyone thinks the AHL is much better competition, so thats good.

The AHL is probably, at the very least, extremely comparable (in terms of talent) to the Czech league. Even if we pretend for a minute that the leagues are somehow absolutely identical in talent, it'll be good for him to get used to smaller ice with a less-steep learning curve. |

The EPL does it. So does the WJC. Team USA had to do it in the 2012 WJC. They had to play the likes of Switerzland, Latvia, and Denmark. |
