If they keep him Hartford all year, they waste a year of ELC in the sense that he becomes a RFA quicker. Arbitration rights etc. If they send him to the CHL or back to the Czech Republic then they can toll his deal for a year. Idk why they don't do that. That's all I have to say on the matter.

Unsure if the number of games he can play at AHL before burning an ELC mirrors that of the NHL. If so, maybe he gets seven more games and then a call is made.

The view may be that they would prefer he adapts to US Ice and fully learns the system, allowing for a possible promotion down the road. An odd way of handling it, but that might be the decision driver

Burning a year really isn't that bad. If you assume they burn this year, then he will become an RFA at age 20. If it slides, he becomes an RFA at 21. He is more likely to have a breakout year at age 21 rather than 20, so if he were to sign a bridge deal at age 21 it could more expensive than a bridge deal at 20.

Yeah, buts its always good to have more time than less to make a decision. Is the AHL considered far an above better talent than where he would be playing in Europe? I just think if they have no intention of letting him play with the Rangers, send him back to Europe.

Now if they are going to send him to the AHL for big minutes, and he plays well and they bring him back up, I'm all for it.
