I only watched 2/3's of the game

was there a better pass than the one pommer got set up with for the second sabre goal?

- homiedclown

i know unrelated... but did you see the two passes Kane made last night.. those were ridiculous as well.

but yes that pommer pass was a beauty

This team plays like this all season long, it's a playoff team.

Can't remember the last time I've been this entertained.

- dadeadhead

they played a much better game than i had seen in a long time.. i just would like a little more intensity out of eichel.. also that reinhart line better forget about that first period and not play like that again. and the 4th line did their job

I think it will level out.

Part of it was probably due to killing some penalties, and Risto did that last night and I'm fairly certain Antipin did not.

But working on bringing those minutes down will be beneficial to the whole team I would think.

In all fairness to them, they did play the night before. Back to backs to start the season probably aren't really a good idea.

Adjustment period for Antipin too, i suspect at some point he'll be eating more minutes, hopefully the ones risto has right now.

If they want ROR out there more defensively, they need to move Okposo off that line. We didn't bring him here to play that role. He needs to be on a scoring line.

I'll admit, I only noticed Antipin a few times last night. The good part is that when I did notice him it wasn't because he was doing something bad/wrong. So there's that I guess...

Am I the only one that thinks a hockeybuzz floor hockey league would be dope? I honestly miss playing hockey so much
- chilliard77

I did Sunday mornings at the American indoor hockey center in west Seneca a few years back. I believe we still hold the record as an 0-32 team. We were all college kids playing against grown ass, mean guys who had all been in this league for 10+ years. Fun as hell though. Still have my goalie stuff

I think Housley is just trying to make the most of what he has. Putting okposo and ROR together creates a sustainable line to match up against other teams top lines. Gives Eichel and co the freedom to do things offensively.

Plus its not like those two cant turn defence into offence, especially if the right d pair is on the ice. Its not ideal but its worth trying out for now

from what little we've seen i think hes got upside. He and Beaulieu could do damage on that 2nd PP.

I noticed late in the game that Risto was out there with McCabe. Think Housley was just leaning on them more or do you think we could see things switched up a bit?

yeah caught that too. Im not sure what to make of it cause from the chart i posted its clear they want mccabe in an offensive role but this was in our own end right?

I think to start out we were in the offensive zone. But I think by the time there was a stoppage or they got off the ice they were in the defensive zone.

I don't know that McCabe's usage is because that's how Housley wants to deploy him specifically or if it's because of being paired with Antipin right now.

Botts mentioned in his intro presser that he views mccabe as more of an offensive puck mover. I think they just want him in a completely different role than bylsma did.

Maybe hes just looking to see mccabe/risto vs beaulieu/risto strength and weakness wise. Cause there will probably be a decent amount of changes when bogo comes back. I doubt theyd pair him with scandella.

Ya know what is infuriating....

The Oilers win this game

The Leafs win this game

And Buffalo finds a way to choke it away.

While I find the emphasis on enforcing the faceoff rule (which has been in existence for quite some time, actually) more than a little unnecessary, I will never understand for the life of me why it is so difficult for NHLers to square up on a faceoff while every other level of hockey seems to be able to figure it out.

There are players that are train wrecks playing 5 minutes so decent at 14 minutes is a good thing.

He got sheltered minutes it seems. I noticed him a few times, but for good reasons. I think he'll be a good addition. They're making sure he has time to adjust and all that.
