Last night the Flyers are out on the PP with less than two minutes on the clock and a one goal game and somehow Radko Gudas ends up on the ice... Why?

to prove he is an offensive defenseman

lol, but yes, and fish can't resist them. They don't want to resist them. In fact, they actively seek them out.

Thats not entirely true...

Typically people complain about players who provide unsatisfactory results. When they do that consistently, they become targets. Yes, they do get scrutinized to a level others dont, but that is only because the others dont provide unsatisfactory results as often as the others.

Mac was OKAY last night. That's fine for a 6th d-man (about what he is at the NHL level). But at the same time you cant just be okay for an extended period of time as a top pairing D-man and expect people to just be ho hum about it.

Also, a lot of this stuff comes down to the coach. They are the ones who use the players the way they do.

For example:

I understand that SJ was going to pull the goalie to create a 5v5 situation and the Flyers wanted a defensive player to help out but yeah, this decision was a bit baffling at the same time.

I'm glad they won and all but I'd rather see them lose with the kids in the lineup than win with the dead weight they threw out there last night.

Someone soon today

You're assuming that those doing the complaining actually know what they are looking at and that their criticism is always legit.

Also, a lot of this stuff comes down to the coach. They are the ones who use the players the way they do.

Perfect example. Can you think of any legitimate reason why a coach would change his PP personnel late in a game with under two minutes left and a one goal lead?

The conclusion I drew there was not about the game. As I said certain players were and are going to be criticized as a whole regardless of how they play. Good or bad.

but why? let things be criticized on their own valition

There's another kind of beard?
- Scoob

Beard
1. A boy or girl hired as a celebritys boyfriend/girlfriend by that celebritys management, usually for publicity.
Fan 1: "Ugh, did you hear that Eleanor Calder is dating Louis Tomlinson of One Direction?"
Fan 2: "Lmao, no, she's a beard, duh!"

Biggest thing I noticed last night...Flyers certainly seemed to have more overall speed ..Granted opening night always gives players a bit more jump so lets see if it transitions to tonight.

THought the first line looked good.
TK , Weal and Leir were all flying
Simmonds..Love everything about him..Would be really hard pressed to trade him this season or next..the year after that though ..

Aside from everything, MacDonald had a decent game.
- Streit2ThePoint

Not to that salary he have now look it up Sanheim and Morin will give so much more creativity and offense than ManThing&A Mac and less mistakes even they are rookies.

What I saw from AMac last night was in a nutshell what the flyers were in the early 2010's. He was pretty bad in the first period and half of the second. He had a good shift where he kept the puck in the zone being pressured on the far wall a little more than halfway through the second, then had a good DZ shift following that, and he seemed to settle down from there. guy has to play that consistent longer than half a game or just a period.

Simmonds had a hat trick, his value will never be higher, we must trade him for whatever we can get ASAP because he might not be good in 8 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe me we all know his salary, im pretty sure the fan base can quote his exact contract by now. hes getting paid that regardless of what he does so you gotta look past it. if he can play majority of the games like he played in the second half of the game last night, he will be fine.

Exactly. Yes, he's overpaid, but nothing will change that now. He'll never play up to his salary, but he can be a serviceable NHL defenseman. Now, the fact the he's deployed on the top pair is a different matter entirely.

Kings will be honoring Christina Duarte before the game too. She worked for the organization and was killed in Vegas.

That can't be. It is physically impossible for any player to get better past the age of 25. Sheesh, you act like Mike Knuble wasn't a 25+ goal scorer during his mid-20's.

Though if you could trade him for McJeebus I would possibly do that..lol
