yeah, it really is for the best, I just dont know if we can absolutely count on him coming - jimbro83
The Rangers better hope he comes over else they have to hope Adam Huska turns out to be the future in net. |

We'll the Rangers went on a run of drafting goalies after Lundqvist was established. Yet the only to they've developed was an undrafted college free agent that played hockey in Alabama. |

If the Rangers absolutely wanted to bring Shestyorkin over to play in NHL this year, could they? Would they have to buy him out of his KHL contract? Is this even possible? - TommyGTrain

Lundqvist will be 36 in March. The Rangers best prospect is in Russia for two more year. Adam Huska looked good in his limited time at the WJC, Tyler wall is a question mark cause he's still in college. Brandon Halversson can't get out of the ECHL and the Rangers have Chris Nell and Alexander Georgiyev in Hartford. The Rangers scouting staff might want to look into that development. But that's just me. No caps, no exclamation points. Just thoughts. But please tell me how should express that view point? |

the reason Halverson is in the ECHL is because of the promise Nell and Georgviev show

The Rangers don't know what they have in Georgiyev. Nell was good in college, but again he has 4 pore game to his name. |

My issue isn't with Lundqvist. He'll be fine. Do I think he'll put up a save percentage of .920, no. But with the improved blue line he shouldn't have to. |

would you advocate them using a high pick on a goalie in the draft next June? |

Can't use a high pick on goalie if they insist on trading it... |

I don't think I would ever pick a goalie in a 1st round, but thats just me. Too much inconsistency between college, juniors, etc to the NHL |

whatever their first pick is next year, is the goalie situation so dire that you advocate addressing it before any other position? |

Andrei Vasilevsky went 19th overall in that draft. He's the highest draft goalie from then until now. |

Need forwards. There's some good guys on D that are super close to ready, a few goalies that could back-up Hank after (or during) this season, but the forwards may need to replenish the stock. Grabner and Nash are most likely gone; as is any temp guy signed for one year.
There are core players that are having contracts expire this or next season. Going to need $$$ to resign them and that will come from not paying vets tons of money and bringing along more kids.
Draft a goalie in three years or in the late rounds (Lundqvist was a 7th rounder). Unless Hank shows he's going to retire before his contract is up, drafting a goalie now may be a waste especially if there is a stud forward available to pick in the draft. |
