Other than the 1st goal, I would say Hank would have normally stopped 3 of the next 4. He looks as awful as the D tonight - mdw7413
How much time, and how many shot ATTEMPTS did Hank face that period? Hank cannot be blamed for the outcome of that period. You saw that period what could happen when our defense makes giveaways and can't clear the puck out of the zone the number of times they did. Just tending goal in sustaining pressure on your feet moving side to side, or worse up and down in the butterfly can make a goalie react late to a shot. If anyone thinks that the score would not be as bad if Pavlec played that 1st period facing exactly the same, they are nuts.
A 39 NHL games experienced DeAngelo alone may make those twitter fan idiots think twice about Girardi & Holden. Holden should get his chance tomorrow night.
Furthermore, what if Hank is no longer "Hank" anymore? The same goalie coach is still here. If so, this team will become sellers way before the trade deadline. |

Can't defend that awful display of goaltending in that 1st period, I love Hank but that was horrible, bad defense aside |

Rangers need Hank to bail them out though when the D is shaky...that is why he makes 8.5 million per year. If he can't do that anymore, he shouldn't have the contract |

I'm sorry in disagreeing with you Brian as a 40 year fellow goalie and shorter time coach. Sudden split through breakaways are the hardest ones to stop as Hank did after the split through Skjei and Smith. Look at how many close in shot attempts on goal & that missed occurred from in between the circles to the net were there, besides the time the puck was in their zone. Also look at how many deflected pucks reached Hank starting with Moore's opening goal.
This team's defense in front of our goalies does not belong on the same ice surface as the Leafs tonight. Our team may have speed, but not of the level to out chance these younger Leafs' forwards. |

That's why I wrote that maybe Hank may no longer be the "Hank" we have known all these seasons, who was younger and performed at that level to get paid that deal that he deserved and earned at that time. |
