Sat behind the net where the rangers shot twice. My main takeaway is we need to create more traffic in front of the net. From my perspective, varamlov wasn't anything special. He had clear view of every shot thrown at him so he was able to make saves easily.

Looked like a lot of those shots were on the logo, but he did make some really good saves.

I thought D'Angelo had a nice game last night, even more so after considering who he was paired with. Hopefully he can build off of that............

yeah, everything people thought Clendening was last year but actually wasn't. Difference is night and day.

Decent game. they came out slow and let the AVs score 2 on us before we started to wake up. hopefully that was just the opening night jitters or whatever. Buch was great. he was our best player IMO. you can see his patience and vision every time he has the puck. that top line looks really good.
Chytil had a decent game for his limited ice time. The Hayes line was ok. not good enough though. Hayes needs to play like a 2nd line center this year. we cannot afford him to slowly find his game.

On the D - I thought ADA had a decent game. had some defensive lapses but also made some nice passes. Staal was rather surprising. I dont think he played particularly well, but showed a tougher side - especially with that hit after he took a big one.

Only player i would not have on this team right now is Carey - who will be replaced with Fast soon. Not sure why they dont give a younger guy a shot while Fast is hurt.

Gotta say though, having a good powerplay is sexy.

I love how AV is letting the first unit stay out there for like 1:30 of it this season

I'm pissed they lost last night but can anyone really pin the loss on one particular player? I've seen people already getting down on Shatty because he was a -3 and there's of course the Hank hating "die hards", hands down the most hated Ranger in their history and is one of the greatest players in the team's history

I think there is very little to quibble with with anything AV did last night really

I mean the Duchene goal was a brutal defensive play by him.

He didn't play Chytil on the PP or PK. Essentially making the kid a worthless 4th line center for the game.

Honestly if people want to quibble, could say Hanks 3rd goal was a bit of a softie. I was happy with the team last night, just not the result.

Well they lost. They were good on the power play, in the offensive zone they worked well. When transition they allowed to many odd man rushes and ran around a little defensively. How man teams can win games when 1 of their 4 centermen is bench because of unknown reason? Probably not many.

The win would have masked that issue. I would have been annoyed, but the win would have been nice.

You argue. I just said the Rangers in the offensive zone and power play played well. What they didn't do well is transitioning into defensive zone and back checking. Look at the goals. That's what happened. The 3rd goal is a goal you'd like Lundqvist to stop. But the chance the Avs got came because all 3 forwards got caught deep and that happened a few times last night. That's not Av's fault. What is fault is hinting that that they are fine a center bbefore the season stated. The it wasn't because Filip (AV quote: "talent has no age") Chytil was stapled to the bench.

you've come a long way on Chytil:
