I wish Chytil shot the puck early on that 2 on 1, that would have blown the roof off the place had he scored there
- jimbro83

If he's only going to 7:40, 18 seconds more than Paul Carey, then what's the point of him being here? Yes he should of shot that puck on that 2 on 1. He'll learn. But if that's the kind of ice time he's going to get send him back to Czech league or the CHL and have his contract toll till next year.

Give us a short review 'from the stands', RD
- 21peter

Opening night was a let down as far as atmosphere in the building. I think the opponent had a lot to do with that. Other than Nash and Landeskog, there was very little emotion on the ice and in the stands. The sluggish furthered this bleh atmosphere until the end of the first. But the intermission cooled everyone down. Same sh!t from the stands tho...fans yelling "shoot" and complaining they never shoot. Dumb fans are older than the "Potvin Sucks" chant. These thing will never go away unfortunately.

As for the team play, other than the first 10-15 min, the Rangers speed and system out performed the AVs in just about every aspect. I thought the passing was not as crisp and that lead to some missed opportunities. Puck seemed to be just behind or just ahead of a player in stride. Easily correctable and we can only hope it happens quickly.

As some mentioned, Hank seemed bewildered at time, but he made some solid save including the one just prior to the Duchene goal. A better tie up by Shattenkirk there would have really helped.

Isn't he AHL-eligible? Or would he go back to the Czech league?

He's eligible for the AHL, CHL or the Czech. Rangers have options with him.

I think Yankees playoff game also takes energy away. Not from diehards like us obviously.

Well the 9-game thing wouldn't matter unless he was "returned" to whoever drafted him as an import in the CHL. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't they still burn the first year of his ELC if he goes to the AHL?

I have a hard time believing a young guy would pass up major-pro money at home to stay over here and make AHL money or no money. Maybe he does, but that would be an impressive gesture on his part.

I get the feeling very strongly that if he doesn't stay after 9 games he's going back to Europe

Seems like the most likely thing to me. Rangers would probably prefer that he did that over going to the AHL and burning a year of his ELC, I would imagine.

I think Boo Nieves will get another 9 AHL games of seasoning, he'll come up, Chytil will go back to Europe, Carey is the healthy scratch once Fast is ready

Rangers had a lot of shots but Varlamov saw all of them. Need to be better with putting bodies in front of the goalie.

AV has made it pretty clear that he won't see much special teams play and there were FOURTEEN penalties in the game. Relax, guys. He will get his chance.

last night the AV's looked like the rangers have the past two seasons (at least the start of the seasons) where they are just getting caved in possession wise and scoring attempts wise but their goalie keeps it close and they squeak out a win.
