Aside from that horrendous pk play, i thought Weise had a pretty even game

I'm sorry to keep female doging about this but Manning was horrendous tonight, he had 4 shifts in the first period and saw scoring chances against on each, I counted 6 SJ chances in the first. He was on the ice for 4 of them. His 4th and final shift of the first ended in a penalty, resulting in a goal against.

He was very, very poor tonight, highlighting the scratch of Morin/Sanhiem.

For what it's worth if I have a gun to my head, at this point, I'd play Morin over Sanhiem. Let it be known I'd rather have them both in than those 2 knuckleheads, age not withstanding.

Felt like Weal alone had 2-3 decent scoring chances so I'd like to see the scoring chance numbers.
- Nucker101

I'm seeing CF% of around 40 for Weal, Patrick, and Simmonds

4th line saw 70%

Caught my eye. I'm not advocating blowing up that second line. Those numbers will go up once Patrick settles in- he can really drive play. He makes a hell of a breakout pass to get the rush going, made a few nice outs tonight

Much more good and okays than bads/uglies, and if that keeps up they'll be in good shape.

Konecny should be playing with Lindblom and I suppose Filppula, but I'm not happy Filppula in the middle, he deserves better.

Interesting to note the possession metrics of the Weal/Patrick/Simmer line were bad, while the 4th line's possession metrics were sky high

- Giroux_Is_God

Patrick line and Filppula line both had some shaky moments getting out of their own end.

I agree with the 2nd line having better cf% with a larger sample size. You can just tell that Patrick drives play with all the little things he does and like you said, his breakout passes are great. They did have a few shifts spent in their own zone, could just be a chemistry thing as well as Patrick adjusting.

If all of a sudden they're not seeing better possession metrics by halloween, maybe it's something to raise an eyebrow at. Until then, I'll wait for chemistry to form and sea legs to get back under Patrick. Weal flies out there, always makes a good play. Simmer is Simmer- he's not gonna give you great possession numbers himself but his net front presence will give puck carriers room down low and work in the trenches. Both those situations are conducive to cycling and/or getting the puck up to the point for some shots.

Looking at play styles alone, that line could be a good one.

my observations. Really like lines, 1 , 2, and 4. Meh about line 3 altho Konecny looked good. Team defense still has a lot of work to do. Elliott was good. Love the team speed. Giroux looked like Giroux. was really quick. good to see the PP click. the PK was better than the 2/6 stat shows. really love the 4th line. felt like they spent the majority of time in the O zone. Thought Patrick played well. Kid has great vision. Lastly I would have Morin in for Manning against LA. Gotta love 3 goals for Simmonds and 3 assist for Jake and Ghost.

Well, I slept thru that one. From what I've read it sounds like Elliott was shaky in the first but very good the rest of the game.

Also the pp was very good, Simmonds is a beast, Weal is for real, Giroux is alive and well, Weise stinks, Manning is so bad that he makes Weise look good and the kids (at least the ones Hak was willing to dress) all played well.

Miss anything?

I'm not gonna sugar coat it. Ugly win. The Sharks in mid season for kick our butts nine out of ten times in a game like that but...we won.

Brandon Manning though, he let the forwards get behind him a few times. Weise had no business being on a PK for two seconds. Bad player, bad coaching.

On the plus side of things. I loved watching Patrick do all the little things right. Konecny' speed. Simmonds and Voracek getting into an early hot start. Giroux getting the first goal out of the way. Fun team to watch so far.

I'm still very much concerned with goaltending.
