They're trying to win. Why is that so hard to figure out? Every single NHL coaches first responsibility is to try and win.

The only issue I have with Hak right now is scratching both the young D tonight. I'm not gonna complain too much until at least game 3.

Edit: I lied. I'd really prefer to never have to watch Amac as the #2 again, but we will see how that plays out.

I think most of our problems are with the front office at the moment. They seem to have it set in their minds that they can't have too much youth in the lineup.

At some point, this great plan we have all been hearing about will need to come to fruition. Morin, Sanheim, and Lindblom are all knocking on the door today. Next year we will probably see Friedman, Myers, and Vorobyov. We don't want to see that line get too long.

Not everyone is going to be Provorov, and even he struggled to adjust to the NHL at first.

At some point the team is going to have to get over their fear of all this youth, or we will be forever in limbo.

That would just be awful wouldn't it? What would they be thinking?

- MJL

If they're ready to contend in years 1 or 2 of the deal it would be great.

I'd rather not cross my fingers during years 3-5+ hoping the edge of that cliff never comes.

Plus you have to figure in the assets they could acquire by dealing him.

Sometimes I'm amazed by what I read on Hockeybuzz. You state they're afraid of all this youth yet they played a 19 year old defenseman straight out of junior level hockey as their best defenseman last season. They're not afraid of anything. They're doing what they feel is best for the players and the team. Agree or disagree with it. If anyone has even a basic knowledge of the game has to understand that playing 3 rookies on defense along with a 20 year old 2nd year player and a player in Gostisbehere who is in his 3rd season who struggled for large parts of last season especially defensively. Who also struggled in pre season would give any coaching staff some pause. That's just being fair and objective. I don't agree with every call they've made to the lineup tonight but I'm also not going to join in with all the Hockeybuzz experts that think they know better than the Flyers brass does. The amount of complaining before the season has even started is absurd. It's a long season that lasts 6 months.

Not every player falls off of a cliff. He's a heart and soul player with 30-30 skill.

Provorov is different.

Konecny could have went to the AHL first for all we know.

Pretty sure Ghost has more games under his belt in the NHL than Manning, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

You're right that its a long season, and I hope 6 months from now things are much different.

In the context of the Flyers being afraid to play youth, Provorov is not different. It is very rare for a 19/20 year old defenseman to be used and given the responsibilities that the Flyers gave him straight out of juniors. The Konecny comment doesn't make any sense. He didn't go to the AHL. Gostisbehere despite the quick start is still a young defensman that has struggled.

You hope things are different 6 months from now? How much is different now from the end of last season?
