Being a good coach/GM is about putting guys in position to succeed. I know his strengths, so I will be using his body as a net front presence and will fire pucks off of him in the hopes they deflect into the net

If Sanheim or Morin or neither play, it begs the question that always gets asked. What good are they in the press box? Do you want the kids playing or watching from the press box?

My frist post so be gentle. Im a long time Flyers fan and think this years team is nothing more than a bubble team again. Not thrilled with Manning and Amac playing but the players voted him an "A" so he's a good teammate and well liked. From watching pre-season games they look faster than last year, but that really didn't take much.

Hakstol was asked if there was a concern of being too young on the blue line, and if perhaps that was why it looked as if Sanheim and Morin would sit out the opener.

“Everybody that’s here, they wouldn’t be here if we didn’t think they could help us in an NHL game; yet it goes without saying that experience does matter,” Hakstol said. “We’re going to have at least three guys under the age of 24 years old in the lineup (on defense), and putting that mix together is all a part of it. No question. The heat gets turned up a couple of notches tonight from where it’s been in preseason. The young guys, when they’re in, will handle it well. The veteran players have to do a good job of leading and doing their part when they’re in because there will be nights when they’re out as well.”

Yes I think it will be Sanheim to the chagrin of many. Confident Morin finds his way into the line up tomorrow to replace either Manning or Hagg(to the chagrin of many)

I care more about Morin getting dropped in and out of the lineup than I do him not playing tonight. The random lineup decisions he makes because of his feelings for a certain player will become annoying. I would rather just let Morin go and let Manning play only when necessary.

For those who have responded to my thoughts on the new Captains. To me it's pointless to suggest a change vote or not. It's just gonna end up back with Simmonds this season. Waste of time.

At least we can take a few minutes to enjoy how every other team is bad too.

I like Weal a lot. I'm curious what he would have done last year in a full year if he made the team out of camp like he should have. Its ridiculous it took a Konecny injury for him to get his shot.

I'm not completely sold on him yet though as last year was too small of a sample, but I definitely like what he did and am excited. I wouldn't have guaranteed him a top 9 spot though. Outside of Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier, and Konecny nothing should have been guaranteed.

Their evaluation of Weise is concerning. They're really throwing Konecny in quick sand to start the year with him and Flip on a line.

I can't wait for next year when Friedman, Myers, and Vorobyov are knocking on the door too!

- JFlyers00

Hopefully Weal pans out and shows how good of a job the Flyers did developing him as a player. Not sure what definitive basis you have to say that he should've made the team last year out of camp.
If Weise plays as he is capable of that line has a nice balance of speed, skill, and grit to it. Konecny seems poised for a good year. It's not quick sand for him, it's an opportunity.
