man, I am usually the optimist but manning and McDuck, if true, what a let down.
I almost hope the Flyers get spanked, leaving them no choice but to play the kids on D - wcorvette
Considering they are playing 3 games in 4 nights, I'm sure you'll see the one of Morin or Sanheim this weekend. |

Morin and Sanheim are NHL ready. They changed the complexion of this team in pre-season. Manning is a borderline NHL player with no future whose positive traits end at "good teammate." He is not good, has never been good, and has no place being the starter over both Morin and Sanheim. He was terrible in pre-season to boot, while the rookies were degrees of fantastic. He's not even a reliable veteran -- he's a tire fire most of the time with his coverage and pinches and inability to make plays.
It's inexcusable. No one is offended by patience with kids, but this isn't patience. It's clinging to veteran security blankets because you're afraid to make the next step. I ask what is the point of this? It doesn't help the present, doesn't help the future. The entire point of this rebuild was for this moment, and the veterans aren't getting any younger. From on ice to off ice, the name of the game here is: "safe." Well, guess what? We have the best prospect pool in the NHL, and the kids coming in aren't stopping here. Get over it. - Mononoke
Can't wait for Manning to join the captaincy. Amac for home evening games, Filpula for away evening games, and Manning for all afternoon games. |

If it was calculated stupidity, the Flyers would just sign dudes from North Dakota and Hakstol would immediately insert them right into the lineup, right?
I mean, that was last year's narrative.
It's Game One.
Save some of this analytical gold for January. - johndewar
He has a point. VdV played 232 games for the Flyers the past 3 years. I don't even know where he went after Ottawa released him from his PTO. |

I guess VDV ran out of college coaches to play for or he ran out of college buddies whose dad is also an NHL GM.
That was the narrative, right? |

How will that work exactly? Did you install wheels on his corpse? Maybe a Flintstones type thing? Or maybe sled dogs are pulling it?
The championship will be held in Ecuador, and that's quite a distance. Probably the easiest thing to do would be to stick a sail on him and journey by sea. |

Being a good coach/GM is about putting guys in position to succeed. I know his strengths, so I will be using his body as a net front presence and will fire pucks off of him in the hopes they deflect into the net |

If Sanheim or Morin or neither play, it begs the question that always gets asked. What good are they in the press box? Do you want the kids playing or watching from the press box? |
