So, because the players voted for Amac and Flip it doesn't mean anything? - JFlyers00
Not to me. It doesn't mean the players are right on doing so. To me, this is a stance to say we accept these two regardless of what anyone thinks but we all know Filppula is done after the season and his "A" just goes back to Wayne Simmonds, who is actually worthy.
What's the point? It's a waste. |

Clearly you missed that one time Morin was slightly out of position in that one preseason game. - YuenglingJagr
I feel like this is also overshadowing the fact that Amac is likely gonna be our #2 shackled to Provorov. #FreeProvorov |

Simmonds never lost his A. MacDonald and Filppula are rotating the other one. |

Per Dave Isaac, Ghost w/ Hägg in morning skate, Manning w/ Gudas plus expected Provorov-MacD pair. If these pairings hold, Sanheim & Morin are the scratches. - bmeltzer

Playing VdV 81 games last season wasn't an outlier decision it now seems. It was a harbinger of things to come.
This is calculated stupidity. |

Understood and I am not saying your statement is dumb I have great respect for you. i am just saying I think Hakstol's decision is dumb. if this was a 20 year old right out of juniors then sure I get it. Morin has 2 year in the AHL under his belt. How else is the kid going to get experience. so what are we going to see, one rookie in every game? how is that good for the kids? meh - nastyflyergirl
In Hakstol's mind he is playing it safe. Yes, safe on paper because more vets, but in reality probably better off with the rookies. Yes there will be mistakes, but there is clearly more upside to Morin and Sanheim. Let them get the playing time with the big boys, no point in sitting in the press box.
Still excited for the future of this team, but I'd like to see the future start now. |

I'll get right to it after I call my bookie, and place a max bet on the Sharks.

I'll bet we could get Sbisa back for one of Sanheim or Morin. I mean if they're just going to sit for veterans we might as well get some more vets in here.
Lindblom for Ryan White... I'm calling it right now. |

You can call the reactions knee-jerk all you want. Doesn’t change the fact that tonight is the season opener and the fans are angry they are seeing some of the same pukes from last years garbage fire of a defense, while they bench two of the reasons there was any excitement surrounding a team off a mediocre season full of disappointment.
Especially, when it is apparent the coach is doing the exact same he did last year by being too afraid to play young players, sticking with guys he considers “safe”.
lol, Brandon Manning=safe to our coach. |

I did find it weird that a guy could be good enough to play 81 straight games and not even be offered a PTO...I wonder if Hextall lets the coach pick the lineup as not to micro manage. I wonder if these guys are always on the same page.

man, I am usually the optimist but manning and McDuck, if true, what a let down.
I almost hope the Flyers get spanked, leaving them no choice but to play the kids on D |

It's irrational anger.

Maybe they wouldn’t be asleep if they played their best lineup. The feeling is the lineup leaves something to be desired. Even Bill says that. Doesn’t mean they will lose, but in a season where they can’t afford to give away games, why not play your most talented players? |

If it was calculated stupidity, the Flyers would just sign dudes from North Dakota and Hakstol would immediately insert them right into the lineup, right?
I mean, that was last year's narrative.
It's Game One.
Save some of this analytical gold for January. |
