I liked Archie . I liked Pedan too. I am okay with all moves over the last few days.

If Pulliot works out is is high reward. If it doesn't it is low cost. I am not expecting much but I didn't see the value in the Granlund trade at the time ether.

If it works out Benning will be loved . If it doesn't we will be one step closer to Tambir having an anneurysm.

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks acquire Derrick Pouliot by trade on roster deadline day
With opening-night rosters due to be submitted to the NHL on Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks traded minor-league defenseman Andrey Pedan to the Pittsburgh Penguins, along with a fourth-round draft pick in 2018, in exchange for former first-rounder Derrick Pouliot.

- Carol Schram

Not a fan of this trade. Stop trading picks for projects.

Don't forget Mallet, a Gillis 2nd round pick
- 1970vintage

A Gillis 1st rounder equals a Benning 6th rounder... I'm not concerned about Gillis 2nd rounders

Is it time to just say that the Horvat line is the #1 line? I mean, ice-time will tell I suppose.
- Beatle_john

I think Horvat proved that last year. I think until the Sedin's are gone, management and coaches will continue to treat this like their team... unfortunately

One thing is for sure, we have the best 4th line in hockey and a stacked 3rd line as well. Sadly for anti-tankers, our 1st line is arguably the worst in the league.
- CanuckDon

We have one second line and 3 third lines. Last year we had 4 fourth lines. We are better

Lord knows the Sedin's can't do it anymore. It scares me to think of Virtanen and Dorsett in a checking line role, but might as well give it a shot.

i'd still switch up that bottom 6 and play JV with some talent.

I know Dorsett has been injured coming off of the neck surgery, but I have been impressed with Burmistrov. I would love to have him start on the 4th and Dorsett in the pressbox tbh

Oh well, let the drama continue, I'll keep my humour out of it because it only seems to get things more excitable around here.

But I'll stick to my statement above, paraphrased - that if people aren't informed with all the facts then they shouldn't overreact.

I don't see drama with Codes . He doesn't like the trade. He is not ranting.

It really is a nothing trade at this time . It is about two players that haven't shown they can play in the NHL.

I'm ok with Codes, I'm ok with the trade, life is good and the Canucks talent overall still sucks.

I see Nucker is here now, so it's time to start all over...

I know this might not be news, but I have been a huge advocate for building through the draft, much like DET has done for so many years, and unlike what EDM has done for the last decade.

Draft well, develop well, don't sign players over 25 to multi year contracts, stay away from high profile free agents during free agency. Canucks have struggled to find who is going to supersede the twins once they are gone, and during times of having so many questions, Benning has acquired 6 picks, and dealt 12, and to me, he is just such a gifted scout in terms of being able to establish prospect skill and potential, that I would much prefer him keep his picks and continue to do what he does best While the Sedins are here, I was just hoping that we acquired more picks than dealt, because we simply aren't going to win with them on the roster (harsh reality)

If Pouliot works out, I will eat my words and take back my negative comments towards Benning and throwing in picks.

To me, it is just hard to comprehend why a team like us, who before this draft was struggling to identify the next core, has thrown away twice as many picks as we have acquired while Benning has been at the helm. He to me is a drafter by trade, which is the reason I want Benning to have a plethora of picks at all times. If we have more drafts like we just recently had, we will be just fine moving forward, cause he really did an excellent job.

- Codes1087

Whats worked out though? For essentially a 4th round pick if he dresses for 100 games will that be enough?

Personally I have a low bar, like Yannick Weber low for him. Anything better than bottom pairing specialist is a win in my books

As for the plethora of picks, the Canucks lack the highest end talent that usually comes in the top rounds. They have been a team of 3rd liners for ages, which aside from the rare occurrences, is what usually becomes of these late round picks if they make it. Palmu, Rathbone, etc are not likely to be all stars and still far away from even being NHLers

I like his potential also. This team's D on the PP sucks. Benning is taking a low cost chance and good for him. If it works he is a fuken genius if not we will run him out of town .

I have my Torch and Box of chocolates ready for either result
