It was an everything to gain and nothing to lose trade. Pedan was never getting a chance in Van with probably 4 guys ahead of him for the number 7 slot on the team. A 4th is nothing to give up for a chance at a top 6 dman.
Not only did I love the trade, but I am also more excited for the team this year than I have been for the past few years. I saw heart and desperation in the preseason that I haven't seen for a while. It was nice to see.
15 point improvement...book it - Robio
Yeah they see potential of reclamation. Even as a project at 23 years old, Pouliot is instantly top D prospect on Canucks. At least in scope of most ready. OJ still has title plus in limbo Tree. Stecher and Hutton are the developing NHL youth. So at least JB is trying to improve that sore lack of depth.
Side note don't worry about Canuck the points just enjoy the play. It will all come together before you know it. |

I think they're making fun of Benning for calling him that when they traded for him, they're not calling him a "foundational player" |

It's more a checking role. Something that they used to give out to the second line center. Scroring goals are the new currency now over preventing them. |

He won't be highest paid D if signed. I don't know where you are getting that from. But he might want a Tanev like contract...that's what he's playing for to prove this season he's worth it. - Nuck4U
If its the 5x5 year deal you mentioned, he would be tied with Edler at the top of the team's D payscale |

Exactly. Hank and Horvat seem to be battling injuries now...who knows who will be where. There will be plenty of opportunity for Sutter to play a 2nd 3rd line role. |

I seen an article yesterday that said Canucks have the third worst first line in the league behind the Avs and Vegas.
I would be more concerned about building a first line than worrying about a 17 goal shut down fourth line. |

He may be number 2 now (not in a sh1tty way) . Some would argue Tanev is number 1 .
I think Canucks will roll 4 lines with not a huge amount of TOI difference. Crazy to label Sutter as a fourth liner when he may be your second best center. |

Whomever has to face the opposition's top D pairing, by default, will be #1 |

As you know, that requires years of drafting and developing, which they're doing. I'd be less concerned about their current 1st line and more concerned with what it looks like in three or four years. |

Hank is not better than Sutter anymore sorry.
Face offs , Back Checking . Penalty kill assignments, and more than likely goals and maybe points?
Hank had a good run but it is coming to an end |

The Canucks supposed interested in Athanasiou, courtesy Friedman, aligns with what I've heard about Van searching for a versatile forward |

I still think he's better because he makes others around him better and he produces offence which is what a top six guy should do. But you're right, it's like debating which of the two 80 year old women is the best looking....at the end of the day, they're both ugly |

That theory use to be true but I am not sure it works this year. So far the game plan is to try to find someone to make the twins look better.
Anyways Sutter has a lot of value and in my mind is our second best center. |
