If u played the game a lot its more interesting.
If not its a very boring pedantry sport for most ppl.
No clock & tons of not much waiting for a pitch.
Cricket without any pace.
Makes tennis look appealing lol - Nighthawk
I prefer cricket to baseball any day
Love to play it but watching baseball on TV is far worse than watching pain dry
Meanwhile cricket is much more entertaining |

I like the Pouliot deal. This guy may just need to be coached differently.
I'm sure coming from the Torts/Sullivan coaching style/mentality can't be easy on a young defensive prospect surrounded by Superstars.
Also you can never have enough whipping boys either. |

I dont really like baseball. I swear half of victoria bought blue jays hats and shirts during whatever bat flip playoff series the jays were playing in - Codes1087
Have you ever taken the Clipper to Seattle for a Jays series? You will see the real reason there are so many Jays caps in Vic and Van if you do - because both cities have thousands of passionate long term fans. We take the city over and it is one of the best sporting events of the year in that region. Your next chance is in August for a 4 game set. Give it a try and embrace sports culture.

We embrace the Toronto sports culture everytime we turn on TSN, SportsNet or the CBC.
I have taken in a Mariners game at Safeco and it was awesome. No Toronto fans which made it better. |

Yeah good take. It only cost a 4th where this kid could have cost a 2nd before like a Sven reclamation project.

As he said, he will try to recoup that. Pedan wasn't in the mix, Pouliot's a gamble for sure.
Let's see what TG can do with him. |

Hard to get away from baseball it's so prelavant here as part of the culture. But the funny thing for most it's really just a venue for entertainment where people go to socialize. The sport seems secondary and is like background almost. More so then Football which has that entertianment culture to it because of large stadium crowds. But the sport is taken more seriously while it's playing then baseball.
Where as basketball, hockey or soccer people go because of the sport. The other stuff is secondary. Funny how that works. |

Safeco is a brilliant atmosphere for baseball and Seattle is a gorgeous city that almost feels "Canadian".
The Jays are my one exception for Toronto sports teams - I probably love them as much as the Canucks and watch every game played by both teams. |

If all Poulliot can become a PP specialist, then it is a bonus. After the past few season of super boring hockey, some exciting hockey would be greatly appreciated |

I would politely disagree as I often travel alone to American cities to watch the Jays (Boston, NY, Denver, Oakland, LA, Seattle). Of course it is more fun with pals but if no one can go i still go solo because there is something about the sounds and smells of the game that draws me in. I guess if you love the game you look more carefully at pitch selection and great individual plays making it more of a sporting experience |

Oh there is a fare number of dedicated sports fans that will talk you ear off about players and teams for sure. I don't begrudge your interest. My reference was to most not all. It referred to a generalization that to the observer the masses were there for social entertainment the sport was secondary.

It was an everything to gain and nothing to lose trade. Pedan was never getting a chance in Van with probably 4 guys ahead of him for the number 7 slot on the team. A 4th is nothing to give up for a chance at a top 6 dman.
Not only did I love the trade, but I am also more excited for the team this year than I have been for the past few years. I saw heart and desperation in the preseason that I haven't seen for a while. It was nice to see.
15 point improvement...book it

I like sports whether playing or appreciating watching the best play it. I don't follow a baseball team per say. Blujays and Mariners were my Vancouver fed teams but no attachments. Also, am indifferent if at the Yankees or Mets where people will get very passionate about their teams. But I find myself paying more attention to the game and plays then they do many times. |

Poulliot is probably closer to replacing MDZ then anyone in system now. So if he can be developed like you say it can make MDZ an asset to move. Granted if MDZ can also reclaim some value playing the PP etc. that would make him worth it again. |

One of my top moments was sitting behind the plate in Oakland for a Richardey start (his first year in Toronto). Watching the knuckle ball from that vantage point was amazing. Then watching them bring in a reliever with 100MPH fast ball afterwards gave even more perspective to how difficult it is to hit either ball.

Exactly some love creating hysteria.
Pedan was a throw in, probably more for contract exchange so as not further narrow the 50 limit.
Plus on evaluation the Canucks don't seem high on his fit or value to try to develop him anymore. With what's on Comets now and in system that's just good development management in allocating resources and access. |
