Yes they were but still a career AHLer in the end & muscle for depth.
We got a 7/8th D for one who seemed was never going to be one here.

DP can't handle NHL speed. He looks like a tweener. He'll do pretty well in slow paced games, but when teams really start to cycle he get's confused and makes huge mistakes.
Another thing... He was supposed to be a really gifted skater. We never saw it.
It will be interesting to see if the Nucks can turn him around. I pretty much doubt it.

lol I am one of the most chill guys on here, but I feel that it makes more sense for me to back up my logic with reasoning instead of going off on an uneducated, statless filled tangent isn't something that is overly welcomed here. And believe me, I am already in my Zen place, OB doctor told us we should expect our 1st born anytime now, I am definitely maintaining a state of zen - Codes1087
simply put, pouliot still probably has more chance of panning out than the 4th rounder |

Question for everyone...
Does getting DP give us more options or the likelihood of big TDL action?
IMO certainly puts EG &/or Hutton into the trade picture.
Discuss thx |

Nothing wrong with being confident in JB's drafting. He has done quite well in each draft (with only a few exceptions), its exciting to uncover potential homegrown talent |

I was wondering whether it was insurance for an EG deal. He'll likely price himself above his abilities, so it would be nice to work DP in to a bottom pairing role for next season, particularly if Juolevi doesn't take a big step forward |

It really is. I am pretty big into the analytical world and follow a few of the computer nerds and to see them give such praise for these picks gets me amped for the future. I know im the minority but i just see value in all picks with benning at the helm. :thumbsup |

DP i believe is on the last year of his 800k aav contract. It will very much be an evaluation year i think, much like gudbranson. The lesser getting traded, the better being rewarded with a contract id bet. |

Maybe you have a typo as Pedan isn't waiver exempt. He did pass through waivers after last season camp as well. But Pens wanted depth on farm as they would lose Pouliot this season as he wasn't exempt. So Pedan's value went up for them when he passed though.
Ultimately, the trade was based on a 4th. Canucks probably said they would claim him if the Avs didn't Andy offered the pick. Pens said deal madman throw in your AHL guy who passed through waivers. |

Good risk/reward for Van. The Pens aren't keeping 8 dmen on the roster and Sullivan would never have faith in him for the 7th spot. I'll really be interested to see how it plays out. |

It's not that interesting at all actually, a depth player he paid a 4th round pick for who'll probably be a bit player for the better part of any NHL career he may have. |

Gudbranson is UFA, Pouliot is RFA; and EG will look to command big money, while DP probably would be happy with a million.
If EG isn't going to sign here he needs to be moved for picks, I think Pouliot is here for longer term, 7th D or better. Biega/Wiercioch will be gone I am guessing |

Moving Guddy you need a right shot D and only guy other then Biega is unproven Chatfield and let's not count Subban.
So moving Guddy would be a contractual issue which given how much space there will be next season shouldn't be an issue. If that was to occur look for JB wanting a prospect D, perhaps like Pouliot, but a right shot back.
Still JB's white wale is a right shot QB D type. If he's still here JB will go after in draft if not taken away like Makar was by those awful Avs. |

Im not very concerned about the RH/LH for someone that doesn't put up much offence. That being said, Im not the coach and maybe he is but seeing how PP is 4F-1D I don't think its an urgent item.
Also I wouldn't mind paying EG one season of big money to buy time for prospects, but unfortunately he will want term. I am thinking Alzner is the comparable he will want to use |
