I like the trade, but doubt anything comes from it. Wish Pedan the best and as decent as he looked this preseason, he isn't anymore than a journeyman.

Pouliot has the potential to be a Granlund and it only cost a 4th this time.

P.S. I'm liking the new salty Makita

My controversial opinion:

Would be nice to keep all of our draft picks until the team stops sucking.

Too much to ask?

Yes.... that's as dumb any idea as someone saying that they wouldn't trade tryamkin for anyone other then Connor McDavid.

Would, the trade would need too include McDavid, but now i think it needs to include a pair of firsts as well.

Hall got Larsson and tree is bigger then Larsson

By the way, there is a regular who did say and believe that. . .......

Not much of that on here but TBH I don't read/listen to much else other than here anymore. What are folks on other sites and 1040 saying. Is the angst just about the pick?
- bloatedmosquito

On 650 they broke it down rationally. When they put all the pieces together it made sense. It still does.
For 2 or 3 years he was on everyone's trade wish list. Now that the Canucks had him he is sh*t and Benning is "throwing away draft picks".

I see it as trading a 4th round pick for a reclamation project with a high ceiling. Pedan was scratched by Green several times in the regular season last year. But this year he was going to replace Gubranson when he gets traded for Duchene.

Everyone needs to visit the woodpile!!!!

You know, of all the people here I would have expected you to like this trade. Any time a team has an opportunity to improve now AND in the future they should take it. Pedan was never going to make a significant contribution, he's never been an offensive talent, while Pouliot has. There is just more chance that this works out in the teams favour. If this allows them to trade one of the other D near the deadline and they get a 4th or higher pick back will it ease your distaste?

To me, it's not a big deal. It might work out, it might not. The cost wasn't high, and I think it was fair based on the players switching teams.

Lebrun had just said that the consensus amongst other GM's over Benning is that he is never not open for business.

Believe they're still putting finishing touches on it, but a verbal agreement in place; should be around $80 million over 10 years I think

Lebrun not up to CBA only allowing 8 years max on contracts for teams on their players and 7 years max from other teams on RFA/UFA extension years.

Depth wise i rather take the chance on Pouliot.
Gives us more real options at the TDL.
Hutton EG could get us better picks than the 4th me moved.
Could set us up to be a big player at the TDL.

Fun fun fun but the wait will be rough 😜

1040 saying Archibald just left rink with all his gear. I hope he get's a shot later in the year.
He deserved a shot after the camp he had.

If you take a look at how often this team gets injured. We'll see him before November ends.

Book it.

Does anyone in the 4th round have a higher ceiling than someone like Pouliot? Usually that late in the draft youre hoping they do, but extreme luck is required. IMO a known commodity with deficiencies is easier to manage than hoping someone is available 100 picks into the draft, then developing them for years to hope they even get close; its a much larger gamble to me.

Rathbone was our last 4th round pick, he could very likely not get a sniff of NHL, whereas Pouliot will dress this year

- WhiteLie

Palmu was a late pick....Folks are high on him but the reality is it would be a miracle if his career is even close to what pouliot has already acheive (67 games). Yes, a miracle. We traded a 4th for a player that will play at least 100 games in the NHL and has the upside of a top 6 dman. Pretty fair gamble and not worth this many comments

The improve now part is a problem for tankers. They want to keep the draft pick and not improve so there are higher draft picks as well. Not surprised the loudest voices against are the biggest tankers. Though surprised at Lefty's support guess he likes the kids upside from the past.
