Pouliot has played more games than all those guys combined and is 23.
i'm just saying JB is a scout and is aware of his drafting abilities, he chooses to trade some picks when he see's value in a young player.
if we trust his scouting abilities, we should trust his scouting abilities.

and I agree. I just said in the above post, that it really is unfair to judge any trade without a season or two to see what we have, I totally get this and understand the reasoning. I trust his drafting more than his scouting, which I guess go hand in hand, but I also thought McCann has the potential to be a top 6 forward in this league

Holy crap, seriously. Benning made a trade, the trade somehow required that a 4th round pick be included.

I could give two sh!ts what is included, I'm a fan of the team and I'll cheer for them until I no longer cheer for them.

I do not understand why everything has to be criticized to such detail that the stress being communicated is overwhelmingly unhealthy.

By articulating in detail, to a joke post I was making, help you feel at ease or does that make you get ramped up. If you feel better, and it puts you into a zen environment, well carry on, and in the same token I'll continue with the levity.

I can't believe the level of freaking out. Sitting back and reading this sh*t is hilarious.

I would largely consider Gaudette to having more promise to the future than I would say Pouliot, BUT, I think it would be completely unfair to judge a trade based off of zero playing time.

Played in the NHL vs not.
Sits in the AHL.

Unfair or in denial? I vote for denial.

True, and we know that Gaudette now has higher promise after a few years of development (even then, no one is certain about top 6 potential). But Troy Terry or VAN's Carl Neill both taken right before him have considerably lower ceiling.

Just a big gamble for what could be no payoff on either side of the deal, which is why I dont mind these happening on occasion

Benning did a lot of his early drafting with the drafting for need method. This year seemed more like BPA method.

Not much of that on here but TBH I don't read/listen to much else other than here anymore. What are folks on other sites and 1040 saying. Is the angst just about the pick?

I listened to Halford and Brough . They wondered why Poulliot? He didn't get high reviews for Pittsburg media much like the Pitts guys that dropped by here. It is a longshot.

It will more than likely be a nothing trade

My controversial opinion:

Would be nice to keep all of our draft picks until the team stops sucking.

Too much to ask?

Seeing Edler his drop pass and his inaccurate shot lead the PP for the last 6 years anything is a welcome change.

So who sits out now?

Don't you think that we should waive a stale core vetern of Swedish descent?

Believe they're still putting finishing touches on it, but a verbal agreement in place; should be around $80 million over 10 years I think

Nothing wrong with that.
The other side of the coin is a nobody/4th for a 23yr old now.
Pouliot is further along than what any 4th will be.
D do take longer & Pedan hasn't shown any promise.
Does it mean Pouliot is going to be an NHLer & help us?
Idk but its not a high risk nor a high price either.
Pedan was obviously not in our picture on the depth chart.

You know, of all the people here I would have expected you to like this trade. Any time a team has an opportunity to improve now AND in the future they should take it. Pedan was never going to make a significant contribution, he's never been an offensive talent, while Pouliot has. There is just more chance that this works out in the teams favour. If this allows them to trade one of the other D near the deadline and they get a 4th or higher pick back will it ease your distaste?

To me, it's not a big deal. It might work out, it might not. The cost wasn't high, and I think it was fair based on the players switching teams.

Lebrun had just said that the consensus amongst other GM's over Benning is that he is never not open for business.
