Not terribly surprised that Archibald was sent down. Too bad he is not under contract. But I think it says a little that our depth has really improved these past two years. Just look at Utica's roster... it's a who's who of the future.

my comment had zero shred of animosity, hostility, or anger. I just feel like people respect your responses on here more if you have statistics, history, data, etc and your thoughts are eloquently laid out in a readable manner. Its so easy to Harp on Benning for throwing away picks, or harping on Benning for making bad signings, but your posts are really for nothing without statistical data or rational thinking to back that up, which is why so many posters here are either really liked or really disliked, because they either offer up that evidence and make rational posts or they don't.

I know what you were getting at. And yes, god help the man who can't verify their opinion with statistical fact.

You must have noticed that JB's trading record is a sensitive subject around here.

And I think Codes comment is serious because it's echoed by many experts and insiders in the MSM. It's an online running joke. Hall of fame memes have been created on the subject.

There is a widely viewed perception that JB unnecessarily trades away draft picks that other GMs don't seem to do in similar circumstances. True or not it exists.

- bloatedmosquito

Oh well, let the drama continue, I'll keep my humour out of it because it only seems to get things more excitable around here.

But I'll stick to my statement above, paraphrased - that if people aren't informed with all the facts then they shouldn't overreact.

The Sedins didn't want any of them.

Any D under 25 is still a prospect or developing into learning NHL game. JB traded a 4th round pick, that is regarded as a potential long shot 4/5 years away, for a prospect that could be turned around in a year.

The trade shows they want more D with offensive skills. The Preds model perhaps. TG has system of D joining rush or faster pace with D zone exits. They didn't see enough from Wiercioch now and feel he might develop more confidence playing in AHL.

Pedan, known to TG and they rather give AHL icetime to develop McEneny, Holm etc.

BIEGA is developed and plug and play emergency only insurance.

It's the same every time they bring in a coach. It leaves most scratching their heads but here's what I think happens. The GM simply approaches it like this,,,, he chooses to bring in that fringe depth for the 6/7/8 D spot and 4rth line by asking the new coach about who he gave minutes to for filling those roles in his past experience from a list of depth players available in the NHL. It reduces the risk that you waste your time by bringing in or calling up players that the coach doesn't play due to no familiarity or trust. Sometimes the GM recognises the value in this and goes the extra inch to acquire that player(throw in a late pick). It's a rational approach.

edit: It looks much better when acquired player has upside still and was drafted high. Like Pouliot

I am more happy about the fact that our prospects are not being rushed, more so than I am concerned about the losing of a 4th round pick lol.

Thank you sir. We are very anxious, but very excited.

I hope you didn't take my comment with any ill will. I definitely meant no harm in it. I was just trying to back up my thinking with some statistical evidence is all

Sutter said he embraces the role of playing 4th line center if it means Travis Green trusts him to play a shut down role. I will try and link the article.
- Codes1087

I think it a compliment to Sutter. He will play as much as any other line , but he will be playing against other teams top lines

Lord knows the Sedin's can't do it anymore. It scares me to think of Virtanen and Dorsett in a checking line role, but might as well give it a shot.

Wow read all the backpages & as usual its overblown hysteria mostly.

Pedan an inconsistent Russian with no offense & sits in Utica.
We need offense from D not a press box sitter.
Those saying Pouliot could be had for nothing ignore contracts matter & wasting them is silly. That explains why on cut down day this trade happened.
A 4th won't matter unless those who think more darts means more chances sounds like scud missile intelligence.
This TDL i'm fairly sure we will get more darts to pacify the dart throwers.
Sending Biega & Weircioch down is a bonus for depth & help Utica.
Seriously who wanted to see them play here? Same goes for Pedan? NOT ME

POULIOT would not clear waivers & why this happened.
JR knew that so he added toughness in Pedan.
JB decided Pedan has no future.

One thing is for sure, we have the best 4th line in hockey and a stacked 3rd line as well. Sadly for anti-tankers, our 1st line is arguably the worst in the league.

POULIOT would not clear waivers & why this happened. Benning paid a 4th to ensure COL/LV did not pick him up on waivers, as he would have been placed today by PIT
JR knew that so he added toughness in Pedan.

I liked Archie . I liked Pedan too. I am okay with all moves over the last few days.

If Pulliot works out is is high reward. If it doesn't it is low cost. I am not expecting much but I didn't see the value in the Granlund trade at the time ether.

If it works out Benning will be loved . If it doesn't we will be one step closer to Tambir having an anneurysm.

Has to be by far, the slowest "1st" line in hockey

The first move of Benning's I've liked since, I don't know, Granlund maybe.

So you didn't like the Burrows trade?

Is it time to just say that the Horvat line is the #1 line? I mean, ice-time will tell I suppose.

Thanks Carol, I have always valued your opinions and analysis of talent over any other poster on these boards.

I certainly didn't think Pedan would ever make the Canucks full time, and we get to see if Pouliot will ever pan out.

Oh and let's not forget that coveted 4th round Benning gave up.

Fire JB, hire HB drama queen.

I'm with Lefty on this, I like the trade.

If Pouliot works out, I will eat my words and take back my negative comments towards Benning and throwing in picks.

To me, it is just hard to comprehend why a team like us, who before this draft was struggling to identify the next core, has thrown away twice as many picks as we have acquired while Benning has been at the helm. He to me is a drafter by trade, which is the reason I want Benning to have a plethora of picks at all times. If we have more drafts like we just recently had, we will be just fine moving forward, cause he really did an excellent job.
