Using Hitch as a role model for developing talent at the NHL level now, are we?
- YuenglingJagr

He can't be a role model for stating rookies on D when he's starting zero and this team is starting at least one, likely two.

HOLY CRAP that's just scary... that all those were on our roster to start last year.
- dragonoffrost

...and thats why I don't get all the anger right now. Even with Manning and Weise and MacDonald, this lineup is better than last year's lineup.

Is now a bad time to point out that players who start the season in the AHL are not doomed to play there for the rest of the season? Is it also a bad time to point out that they have 3 games in 4 nights on the road again... just like last year?

The Flyers' playoff dreams werent squashed last year until they followed that 10 game winning streak of theirs with an extended funk.

Tell me that the Rangers, Penguins, Caps, and 'Jackets are all better this year than last. Please tell me that. I've got my mocking, derisive laugh all lined up and ready to go.

People, relax. We might make the playoffs this year.

Yeah.. I know.. the Islanders and Canes are supposed to be good this year.

I've seen the Islanders (minus Tavares) and you know what? They looked slower than the Flyers.

The Canes have been about to turn the corner for like.. five years now. I'll believe it when I see it.

Not watching that game. My protest won't mean poop, but I'm not exposing myself to a that lineup.

Morons.

- flyer_nutter

Yeah because without Lindblom and Morin this line up has nothing to be excited about

I'm not impressed with Morin potentially being in the press box either but geez get a hold of yourself.

Patrick, Konecny, Provorov, Laughton, Leier, Weal, Simmonds, Giroux-Couturier-Voracek.

Yet you choose to "Protest" Weise, Manning and Amac.

Isn't that just the 5 games he still has from last year if he were to play in the NHL again?

I'm gonna be pissed if Morin is scratched in favor of Manning but that won't take away from my excitement over the first and second year players they have in and even Ghost and Laughton in what is technically their third NHL seasons

The Weise hate to start this season also makes no sense to me.

Yes he was unproductive for the majority of last season. He also finished the season with 10 points in 14 games.

This keeps bouncing around in my head.

Come on, people! Get a hold of yourselves. We are zero games into the season right now. Relax.

Laughton and Hagg were labeled busts who should be traded not that long ago.

I'm disappointed for sure and will become quite pissed if Morin is in that press box for long. That's not going to tarnish Hockey I've waited 6 months for. Go Flyers!

Trade Laughton for Kerby Rychel

Hagg and a 2nd for anyone of interest but not worth a 1st.

Shooting 20% over the last 14 games

He isn't as awful as he was for the majority of the season, but he isn't a .7 ppg player.

Since I'm sure I'm coming off as Mr. Positive, here are my top 3 issues with the current line up.

1. Filppula in the slot on PP1. I saw him attempt one shot during pre-season and it was not dangerous. Schenn generally would be 5+ in a game.

2. Morin in the press box. The kid could not of done more to earn a spot in the line up tomorrow night.

3. AMac with Provorov. Promote Gudas to establish a legitimate top pair. AMac can be another rookie's safety net.

Weise needs to be a 25 point per 82 game player if he's not on the PP, so we'll see if he can get back to that. I'd rather have him on 3LW than Lehtera, who is currently the other option on the roster who isn't already lined up somewhere else.

I know where you're going with this. I'll use a cliché...Have to be good to be lucky & lucky to be good.

Shooting percentage isn't as based on luck as you think it is. I never said he was a .7 ppg player. He showed he can be an effective NHL player.

I have a problem with Morin not playing.

He should be in the lineup. Manning should be sitting.

If anything, why should there be a rush to get Manning in the lineup after having off-season back surgery? Are we going to be reading stories about Manning playing his way into game shape? All the more reason Morin should be out there.

22. PHILADELPHIA - With Claude Giroux on the left wing, Sean Couturier will break through with his first career 50-point season for the Flyers. But Couturier’s time as Philadelphia’s No. 1 centre will be short-lived, as he’s just keeping the spot warm for Nolan Patrick, with the Flyers’ rookies providing hope in another non-playoff year.

100% agree. Aside from 1 nice goal and attempting to stand up for Weal, there wasn't much to like from Manning in the preseason.

So in the last 14 games of the season he just started "being good"? Man, I wish he tried that earlier!

No. He played better, but not to a point where you can say that 10 points in 14 games was anything other than luck. If he plays the same way this year, he is going to shoot 20%?
