I'll go out on a limb and say we finish 11-5, get a home playoff game with a 1st round bye and the division and lose at home to the 9-7, Wild Card, Tom Brady led New England Patriots.
- BeadyEyedDouche

That would be awesome and yet awful in the same breath!

If we finish 11-5 and the Patriots are the wild card team they will be traveling to Kansas City (13-3) just because the Patriots would have the worse record of the two advancing teams!

Still on his ELC and only 37 games played in the NHL.

Curious as to why he has to clear waivers?

- dadeadhead

He's 22. His waivers signing age is 19 (the slide rule on his ELC is where I think the confusion is coming in). He's already got 3 full years of Pro time under his belt and NHL time.

This might help:

I'm gonna say the AFC South has an 8-8 Division winner this year.

Still baffling. He's not even close to the 160 games played but because of when he signed his deal and where his birthday falls he only gets 4 years exempt and not 5.

It's because he also has more than 11 NHL games as well. Only applies if they sign their ELC at 18 or 19. It explains that further down. (I think...this waivers thing always gets me all confused)

Specifically with Rychel, his waiver exemption ran out 4 years after he signed his ELC. Since he signed his ELC in 2013, the 13-14, 14-15, 15-16, and 16-17 have happened. So he timed out of the waiver exemption.

The ELC slide rule doesn't alter the waiver exemption rules.

I think both wild card teams will advance this year!

Positive thinking here!!

But how awesome would it be to beat the Patriots in the playoffs at home to advance to the AFC title game?

Okay calming down need to stay grounded

It's because his 19th birthday was prior to 12/31 of his draft year. He signed his ELC on 12/31/13 thus making him waiver eligible after 4 years.

Love the enthusiasm here!!!

I am just not ready to take that plunge just yet!

7-1 halfway through the season would be insane!

The 11 games thing applies if the player played 11 NHL games during his age 18 or age 19 season. Rychel didn't.

im not a fan, but in general id like to see them take advantage of their spot in the waiver order right now to grab someone with some upside.

I haven't looked into this, but does a claimed player have to be put on the NHL roster? I thought this was the case, but I am not sure. If yes, for how long?
