I think you nailed it.. though it may be tough for management to have two guys making big coin not in the starting lineup ( Lehtera/AMac)
- 3flyerkids

I don't think they care about the salaries. Lehtera was a throw-in in the Schenn trade, the 2 firsts were the real prize. AMac already spent most of one season in the AHL and it is what it is. Management wants to see young players develop and the team win and make the playoffs. They will ice the lineup that will best achieve those goals.

$1,025,000 can be saved on a buried contract

Great game last night. In all honesty, if I'm Haks and Hexy, I'm sending a message (if it hasn't been already): no job is safe. Give both Lindblom and Sanheim the NHL jobs. Cut two vets. We are known to have slow starts to the season, you send this message I think we start with a little more fire as a team with some nice young youth leading the way

True, but they've sent Manning down, and Read only has one more year left. Plus, although they don't need it ATM, those 2 would give them the biggest cap savings (I think just about 1M max. can be saved per player). But Read just hasn't played very well.
- jmatchett383

Agree on Read, he should be a Phantom to start the season

By the way, meant to say they've sent AMac down before, not Manning (although they also sent him down before).

Also, those guys are one one-way deals, so they're getting paid the same no matter where they play.

If that's the case (not saying its not) then I will be disappointed. Disappointed that the Flyers didn't take the best players.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see them with all 6 rookies (Leier in included) make the team

if they are going with G on wing I want to see:

G-Couturier - Voracek
Weal-Patrick-Simmonds
Lindblom- Filppula - Konecny
Leier-Laughton- Raffl

when they play a big bodied team like LA, etc they can always sub in Weise or Lehtera for Leier.

It's just pre season and we'll soon see the difference between the two once the season starts. One factor that I think needs to be given consideration is that youth is infectious to use a cliché. Adding a significant amount of youth, speed and skill to the lineup will not only make the team better but it also can inspire veteran players. It can create an atmosphere where the players are having a lot of fun and really believe in the team and it's future. Good things can happen in that environment. Ultimately you're only as good as you are but emotion can play a role. I've been a MacDonald supporter as I think he's a better player than given credit for but the writing is on the wall. They need to do what is best for the team and the future right now. In my opinion that means keeping Sanheim and Lindblom on the team. MacDonald is absolutely an NHL defenseman but barring a trade, the best move is to waive and demote MacDonald in my opinion. I see no reason to delay the future. If they feel that a player needs some tweaking in the AHL I'll understand it but I won't agree with it.

Totally agree.

I truly believe this team could have the same impact as the Maple Leafs did last year. They will have some bumps but they will also be exciting and I think be better for next year.

I think Lindblom has had a decent -- not great, but far from poor -- camp. However, the fact that he spent two practice days on the "fifth" line and then was scratched in two of the last three games makes me think he's the final forward cut.

However, I also suspect that both he and Leier will get into the lineup on Sunday. Kind of a "state your final case" game before the decision comes down.

I think Sanheim deserves to be on the big team. However, have heard there is a concern about 3 rookies, a second year pro (although Provorov plays and prepares like a vet) and a third-year pro (there are folks who aren't too happy with Ghost's last two games) among the seven defensemen. That's a whole lot of youth. In my view, though, the kids look ready. Doesn't mean they'll be flawless or slump proof, but neither are the vets they're competing against.

Getting a stronger feeling that Lindblom and Sanheim will be the AHL. Won't agree with it but I think it fits Hextall's cautious approach.

Still plenty to be excited about regardless of where those 2 are playing.

Nolan Patrick's vision is on a higher level than I expected.

Konecny looks primed to be one of this team's main contributors.

Morin has shown the potential that got him drafted higher then the "Experts" thought he should've been. He looks ready to make an impact in the NHL.

Laughton is reminding me a lot of Mike Richards. Not ready to say he has the same upside but there may be more to him then just a 4th line center.

Raffl is a beast physically. Watch him play in person. He is not small. Laughton is very physical. Also not really a smallish player.

This is the deepest organization they have had since the early to mid 80s.
