The "new" NHL is a young league.....20 years ago you would never have 6 rookies in the lineup to start a year......I do remember Tocchet, Zezel and Derek Smith one year though....I might be getting old but weren't all three rookies together in the mid 80's. excuse me if I'm wrong, it was like 30 years ago...lol - landros 2
i remember going into that season thinking this team is so young, they aren't going to be too good but it should be interesting because of the youth. they weren't all rookies but they had Craven 20, Zezel 19, Smith 19, Tocchet 20, Brown 21 and the Sutter twins 20. The oldest guy on that team was Cookie Dvorak at 32 and Howe at 29. what a great season that ended up being. |

for sure Macdonald is a better option.....I could care less if we lost Manning to waivers. There are other kids on their way. Time to take the training wheels off and take the best 7 D men. - landros 2
Manning is still a valuable player asset and I don't see a need to lose him when you don't have to. |

Voracek looked extremely fluid and smooth skating in the last win vs the Rangers, the preseason is usually where veterans try out new things, strategies, routes to pucks, etc. His skating seems very strong for being preseason, he is not someone I am worried about.
What am I worried about is G in the LW experiment. If after say, 10 games, it doesn't look good, are they gonna scrap it? Does such a move require more than 10 games? Then how many, 20, 40? If they were going to do it, do it 100%, dont just hope he catches lightning in a bottle and has 17 points in 10 games, thats extremely improbable.
However, if they do stick to the experiment, I think LW seems pretty strong, with G, Weal/Konecny, Lindblom, and whoever else they decide to put there (Filppula, Raffl, Laughton, etc.) - sjk540
Well maybe I only have seen the wrong game
Change of duty for G is long overdue lets see how it goes with LW

I think the team would agree with you as well..
I think it goes one of two ways. Sanheim is up, MacDonald is down. MacDonald is up and one of the rookies are down. |

For me i feel they have to keep all 3.
Maybe it might not seem right but if Hextall is true to his word, i think all 3 have pushed a veteran out and that is what he wants.
Now i know he could always say (so and so needs time to refine his game) but for me i think it would be a strong message to the youth and just to the organization for hextall to keep ll 3 rookies and say " They earned it so they are staying" |

Bill's probably right based on the Hex/Hak track record, but I don't like it. All 3 young Dmen, IMO, have earned their spots. - BiggE
Yup!
I could see if Manning gave the defense a specific element that they were missing, but he really doesn't. If all 3 have earned it there's no reason to keep Manning up over any of the 3. it's not like we are talking about a seasoned veteran here. |

I think it's kind of odd that Konecny will play his 6th game of the preseason while Leier (3 games) and Lindblom (4 games) have a rest. |

That starting lineup just need a tiny tweeking, Patrick and Couter switch spots and Hagg in for Manning who becomes #7 dman and MacDonald waived and sent to LV
Provorov and Sanheim is exciting! |

personally I keep all 3 and waive AMAC. Manning may or may not get claimed but I really don't want to take that chance. its inevitable that injuries will happen and I'd sooner have the capability to call AMAC up than having to call up Brennan or Alt in case of injury.
I also keep Leier over Read. to me Leier has done a nice job and once again I'd sooner not risk losing him, granted they have more depth at forward, and besides I do think he has earned the place on the team.
let Raffl, Leier, laughton, Lehtera and Weise all fight for playing time. And lets be real, you know there will be times they feel Patrick and Lindblom needs a seat. its just inevitable |

I'd have to suggest calling up Friedman or Myers in case of injury and leaving Amac, Manning, Brennan et al right in Lehigh.
