Sanheim looked like crap in the rookie game, he's clearly not ready for the NHL. |

Once again I could not agree more. Sanheim and Gost on the pp with Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds would be my first choice. Having to worry about a blast from either point is exciting. The power play is so predictable, same set up every time and you wonder why it is ineffective. The opposition study videos and adjust to defend i.It usually ends up with Giroux trying to set up Gost for the one timer. By adding Sanheim to the right point gives Gost a chance to feed Sanheim for the big blast. It just adds another option to the pp. Hakstol is blind if he can not see the pp being telegraphed, it needs a different lookt. - joegreif17
Do you think when teams play the Washington Caps that they know that Backstrom is going to try and set up Ovechkin for the one timer at the circle? The league knows every teams PP strategy and what they try and do. It's about execution. That doesn't mean that you don't look to improve and add new wrinkles but the predictability factor is overblown.

Thanks.. I was gonna try to find it but you grabbed it for me.
Im sure he will have some sort of vague "he never said that they were holding him back" rebuttal. It was clear as day. - jak521
What's vague is the idea that the coaching staff tried to limit Gostisbehere offensive creativity. They did not. Either you want to have an actual conversation or you can just go with it was as clear as day. |

I don't see how that proves that the Hakstol and the Flyers coaches tried to limit and put the reigns on Gostisbehere's offensive creativity. - MJL
It appears to me from the quote Gostisbehere felt that way. |

I think your reading something into that, that isn't there. So what happened, Gostisbehere just decided at one point to ignore how the coaches wanted him to play and they were okay with it at that point? I guarantee that the coaches were encouraging him to do just that all through his struggles during the season. |

Could be. Regardless, he did play better later last year and looks good so far. Provorov is looking even better. Add the three rookies who will be better in March than they are now and this will be a really fun year. |

Coots blows
The PP blows
Sanheim is God
Hakblows wants to play Manning and AMac over Provorov and Gudas, so he blows.
Patrick blows
Scoob won't shake my hand
Hextall blows
And somewhere in there, probably some female doging about Mason and/or Umberger. |

Drafted wrong guy (again!).
Ghost was told to be a stay at home defenseman. Or else.

He wasn't healthy last year to start and in my opinion that snowballed into some confidence issues and a breakdown in fundamentals. Once he got stronger, his game started to come back. I'm looking forward to this defense core.

I believe that his injuries played a major role in his slow first half. But he also did have this quote, when asked about why his game was looking better:
"I decided to go out and have fun, make plays. I don't care if I get yelled at."
That's open for interpretation, but it sounds to me like Hakstol was trying to rein him in a bit and Ghost decided to push back and do what he needs to do. |
