Patrick's skating needs more work but I still think his overall skill set and IQ will make him the better player in the long run. Patrick's deft backhand sauce set up resulting in the Sanheim bomb was a prime example of what we have to look forward to.

I don't think me accepting it has anything to do with it. I think he's making a very strong case and it has everything to do with his play on the ice obviously.

I believe that his injuries played a major role in his slow first half. But he also did have this quote, when asked about why his game was looking better:

"I decided to go out and have fun, make plays. I don't care if I get yelled at."

That's open for interpretation, but it sounds to me like Hakstol was trying to rein him in a bit and Ghost decided to push back and do what he needs to do.

Do you think the player won out over the coach? I think there are different kinds of risky plays. Creativity within the team structure is never going to be frowned upon by a coach. Poor decision making, unnecessary risk taking along with a breakdown in the fundamentals of playing the position will draw the ire of a coach.

I have one question. At what point between when Gostisbehere came up in the 15/16 season and made a ton of plays and racked up points and really was a huge factor in the Flyers making the playoffs and the 16/17 season did Hakstol all of a sudden decide he didn't want Gostisbehere to play his game?
