3) WHL: Carter Hart (flu) was not available to make his first regular season start of the season for his Everett Silvertips team on Sunday. Dorrin Luding substituted in net, and stopped 42 of 43 shots in a 4-1 home win over the Tri-City Americans.

Goalie controversy?

I honestly don't see anyone taking Manning, as every team has 1-2 of him, and he'd have to stay on the roster all season. Maybe Calgary would take him just to piss off McDavid.

I think he would be claimed

The game Tuesday night is on the NHL Network...Anxious to see Claude Giroux playing on the wing...He actually started out as a winger when the Flyers first drafted him back in 2006....

Yeah when they had other guys on the team who were better centers

By who? If he could be assigned to the AHL, I could see it. But as a #6/7, I don't think any young team would want him taking up space, and I don't think any contender would see him as an upgrade worth a guaranteed spot.

Also, if they lost him, then so be it.

Looks like the bubble vets are getting a chance to show something tonight. It should be interesting. The Flyers need to show some scoring spark tonight, I don't care who's involved.

Just basing it off of similar roster deadlines...I think guys like him get claimed. Minimal salary, experience.

Florida and Anaheim to name a few. Anyone that might run into an injury, the same way the Flyers wouldn't waive him

I'd say these guys are:

15 Jori Lehterä - 12 Michael Raffl – 21 Scott Laughton – 24 Matt Read

23 Brandon Manning

I rather not lose him. Injuries happen so I'd sooner keep the depth. if the Flyers clearly believe all 3 of the kids have to make the team based on their play, I would really rather waive AMAC, not out of any AMAC hate or because I think Manning is better (I don't) but simply because I highly doubt anyone would ever take AMAC but I could see someone looking for D depth taking Manning.

I don't think he's much better than Brian Strait, who had no issue passing through waivers last year. I just don't think a team out there wants to commit to having him on the roster for 82 games.

This is what I would do, as well, if Sanheim makes the team. Either way, I think Manning is your #7 to start, barring multiple injuries. I just don't think Brandon Manning is more than a depth guy. If someone did claim him, then I'd try to talk to Franson. Hell, I'd talk to Franson anyway.

I thought that, if you claimed a player off of waivers, he had to stay on your team.

At least that was the argument I heard why it wouldn't be hard to put Leier through waivers. If I misunderstood, I apologize.

I could definitely see a scenario where Manning might get claimed by a team looking for a cheap 6/7th defenseman. He has played 140-some NHL games and makes $1M, so it's not like he costs much more than a guy would on a 2 way deal, plus he's got experience.

You can't claim a player and assign him to the AHL. After the new team uses him and wants to get rid of him, he could be placed on waivers again

It really won't be too big of a deal if Manning is claimed. I am kind of hoping he does because it likely gives a younger guy an opportunity to step in. It certainly isn't a guarantee though. Better players have gone unclaimed, pooptier players have gotten claimed

You can do a lot worse than Manning for a 6/7 defenseman.

Sounds a lot to me like Brian Strait around this time last year.

Again, I'd rather not lose him (and would waive AMac first), but I don't think losing Brandon Manning would be the key to the team winning the Cup or not.

Me neither. He's a low cost, relatively young guy that could probably step in after not playing for a while and give a good effort in the event of injury. He's fine as a bottom pairing or #7 defenseman.

If they keep Sanheim, I would like to see them send AMac down to LHV or trade Manning and make AMac your (very expensive) 7th defenseman.

Yes, we all remember the Krajicek/Parent/Bartulis rotation. And I'd prefer not to lose him. I just don't think he's an key to the team's success this year or next.

agree about Manning's ability. i like the kid because he has limited talent but worked his ass off to make the team and seems like a good teammate but that said he is a spare dman and that is fine.

I think Franson is pretty much waiting for Chicago to do their cap maneuvers with Hossa and then he'll be signing there.

I think Sanheim is worthy of making the team and playing in the NHL. I have very little confidence the team would or even should dress 3 rookie defensemen though. I am fine with him starting the year in the AHL and playing 20 minutes
